Sitting in the waiting room my mom has been quiet this past week ever since I blew up on her. I like it this way. I can actually think without everybody in my head.

"Ms. Kane." My head snapped up as my moms name was called. Both of us standing we went back into the room.

The nurse did her job of taking temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, etc.

The doctor came in minutes after her. "How are we today?"

"Good." My mom was the only one who answered. I was too busy getting ready to hear devastating news.

"Alright let's go run some test on you Jackson and we'll be right back." He informed my mom more so than me.

It took a whole hour for test and now I found myself back in the doctors room waiting for the results.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled.

"What?" My mom snapped out of her thoughts.

"I'm sorry. It's just after dad left... I don't have any fight left in me. I think you have enough for the two of us though."

"It's alright." I could see her eyes glisten as the filled up with tears.

I was about to speak again until the doctor knocked and entered.

"Alrighty." The doctor held the clipboard to his chest and my mom stared at it as if trying to see through it.

"We have the test result and we ran them over a few times just to make sure they're accurate. They all came back at the same result so we know it's correct." The doctor informed us even more.

Slowly handing me the clip board the first page was all my information. (Date of Birth, blood type, cancer type, full name, etc.)

Flipping to the next page was test result 1 flipping again was test 2 and it flipped through all of the all seven of them and went back to re read all of them again. The only sound in the room was the frantic page flipping coming from me.

Lifting my head I stared at my mom who was already staring at me. "What's it say honey?"

"I'm.... I'm a hundred percent cancer free..." I thought I'd never hear myself say those words ever.
