"Congratulations graduating class of 2014!" Mr. Olsen shouts.
A chorus of cheers erupts from the crowd of new graduates and all in unison, we throw our caps up in the air. I expertly catch mine and cheerfully pump my arm. I graduated!
A hand falls onto my waist and turns me around. Drew smiles at me, our foreheads pressed together, "I love you." Sunlight glints off of the ends of his hair, making it more golden than sandy.
"I love you, too." He presses his lips to mine. People bump us from all sides but it doesn't matter. None of it matters anymore. Drew is going to Salem University on a sports scholarship and I'm going to a low-key paranormal science school. Also in Salem. He's what's right, he's my forever. I have no doubt in my mind. This is my life. And it's the first time ever that I, a living breathing person, will take control of my life. I'm in charge. And it feels amazing.
As for Bianca and Davon, they opted to stay here in Derksville rather than venture with us to Salem. They still jump from trees and hit unsuspecting victims with their ghost car and make the best of what they've been given. But they definitely will not be revisiting my counter again.
My mother found a boyfriend and he is currently happily installed in the house. I feel much better knowing that she has him as I leave.
Lucas hasn't made any reappearances and it's likely that he never will. I still don't know if I got rid of him for good, but I'd sure like to think so.
And finally, Drew and I got a small apartment up near both campuses. I don't know how college will go but I do know this: no matter what happens, I'll have him by my side. And that's all I'll ever need.
