“Katherine.” She heard the voice and realized that her cheek was laying in some wet stuff it was sticky.

Her eyes flashed open, “katherina.” She rolled her head to the side to see her mother’s body unmoved. Her eyes shut again; she felt an agonizing pain flare in chest as she thought back to her memories of them.

“Katherine,” she heard the pleading voice again and her eyes flashed open again.

“Katherina,” her voice was forceful as she sat up wiping a hand at her cheek to realize that that wet sticky stuff was blood. She looked over to see David she choked but held back the impending tears. “Mama,” she whispered before standing up wobbly and grabbing the nearest thing which happened to be Michael’s shoulders. “Someone killed them as a message,” she said, “they’re going to try to kill me.” She looked into Michael’s eyes without fear and with acceptances of the fact. “I’m going to die.” Her voice was final.

“No.” His voice was strong and steady. “You will live, I’ll fight for you, Aaron will fight for you, Lucifer will.” His voice softened and he grasps her shoulders.

“I can’t let you die for me.” She said quickly. “I can’t have any more people die because they were with me or fight because.” She stopped pausing for breath and then continuing. “You’ll die, Aaron will die,” her breath caught and the pain in her chest seized, “Lucifer will die.” She shrugged off Michaels hands and moved out of her parent’s room, pain in her eyes. “I won’t let anyone else die for me.” With that she left her parents room and left Michael staring at her back.

She headed to her room and hurriedly pulled a pair of black skinny jeans out of her closet, then a light purple top and a dark jacket out of her dresser. Michael appeared in her doorway. “What are you doing?”

“Getting changed then going to find who killed my parents.” She said and walked out toward the bathroom, it looked like her parents had gotten someone to clean out the shingles and patch the hole in the roof. She tossed her clothes down and turned to shut and lock the door. She twisted the shower knob thing so it was hot and kicked her four days old jeans off and slithered out of her four day old top as well she shed her underclothes then stepped into the shower hurriedly. She finished in record time and jumped out dressing quickly and brushed her teeth. She found her hairbrush and gently pulled it through her curly hair in waves down to her shoulder.

She appeared out of the bathroom twenty minute later and decent she pawed through the hallway closet to find her spiky heeled boots and pull them on. “Katherine.” She looked up to see Michael’s pain filled face.

Instantly she straightened up going to him, “what’s wrong?” She asked her eyes searching his.

“Please, don’t die.” She was startled by his words.

“What?” She asked touching his cheek and noticing tears in his eyes.

“Please, don’t die.” He said again. “This is just how Katherina acted before she left and never came back, she died because her family was killed. Your family was just murdered and your acting the same way she did.” His voice was steady but his eyes were pleading no begging her not to leave.

“Michael.” She said looking him the eye. “Do you remember what you said to me? That day you took me to the cabin and I was so scared?” He nodded and she continued. “You said I had to face my fear and stare it straight in the eye.” Her hand came to his face tilting it lower so he was staring into her eyes. “Just like this.”

“I’ll come back, Michael.” Katherine’s voice was calm and steady. “I promise.” He nodded and she pulled her hands away and pulled on black leather gloves and tucked her hair up into a knit cap.
