The next couple of months were a whirlwind of everything you'd expect out of a new relationship. Talking all day and night, spending time together, romantic dates and just overall happiness. Kailie couldn't have been happier, especially since she took a chance and started dating a guy without really knowing him. College really wasn't all that bad.

"I can't believe you Kailie! I thought you loved me! How can you forget something important like this?!" Eric said as he threw the plush brown teddy bear across the dorm room. I watched as it fell in-between the small space by Mandy's bed and desk, landing with a thud, face down on the floor.
"I...uh...I'm sorry Eric. It just...it never crossed my mind." I said apologetically. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the bear on the floor, laying there helpless.
"How in the hell do you forget an anniversary Kailie? Huh...How?" he threw his hands in the air, turning on his heel to walk towards the window, "Like is it really that fucking hard?" His breathing was ragged from yelling.
Is he seriously yelling at me over this? I thought to myself, still staring at the poor teddy bear on the floor. I walk over and pick it up, placing it on the edge of Mandy's bed.
"Yeah..." I said evenly, "it kind of is when you don't count months Eric. I'm not the type of girl that is going to count every single day we are together. Now years...yes, I'll count years, but not months. You can even ask Mandy or my ex, Keith, they'll tell you the same thing." I can feel my voice wavering due to the fact that I'm even having this conversation a couple months in. Three months, now that I think about it.
Stalking over from the window, he stands directly in front of me beside Mandy's bed. "Why in the fuck would I want to ask your ex Kailie? Or better yet, why would you even bring his name up around me? Do you still talk to that mother fucker?"
I couldn't believe this was happening. Why am I getting chastised for "forgetting" a three month anniversary? Hell, normally guys don't even remotely care about anniversary dates and it's always the girls reminding them. But low and behold, look who actually found a guy that remembers this kind of stuff. Lucky me... This all started when I had come back from my Biology 101 class to find Eric sitting on my bed waiting for me, a huge smile plastered across his face. My first thought was, how in the hell did he get in here? Looking around the room, Mandy was nowhere in sight. Now, here we are, having a heated conversation.
"No, I don't talk to him anymore." I said firmly, staring back into his anger filled eyes.
That was a lie. He and I were still friends since our breakup was mutual. I was a grade ahead of him and since I was going away to college, we decided to go our separate ways while still continuing to be there for one another if needed. I didn't see any harm in it but I had a feeling he would see it differently.
"You sure? Because if I find out differently Kailie, it's not going to be a pretty sight." he says, emphasizing on the word not, like it's supposed to affect me somehow. I mean, what really would he does besides break up with me?
"I guess you are just going to have to trust me then."
He backs away from me and turns to go look out the window again. I almost wish he would just leave and go back to his own room. After having this happen, I don't really feel like being around him. I just want to lay in bed and read to clear my head.
After a few moments, he slowly walks back over in front of me. Running his hands through his hair, he looks down at me, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Okay babe." He reaches for both my hands, holding them gently in his. "I just don't want anything messing what we have up and when you didn't remember today, I just got worried." His voice is soft, a dramatic change from what it was two minutes ago.
