Chapter 5

Your POV

Stein's wounds cleared up and you almost can't see the scars. I made him take out the stitches on a few because he has enough as it is. I was outside on a warm summer night on the roof. Stein was grading papers and said he would be busy for a while. I sighed and looked at the stars. I could start to see the DWMA. At night it looked peaceful and distant. I smiled and hugged my knees. I heard a woosh and listened for a minute. I heard a lighter spin and a light glowed behind me.

I looked and saw Stein. I smiled and he calmly sighed. "You look cold." he said and I nodded a bit. "A little." I said and he took of his lab coat and put it on me. He sat down with his legs over the edge and pulled me to him. I smiled and enveloped his warmth and smelled the sweet smell of formaldehyde that i've come to love. I smiled and we watched as the stars danced around. "It's getting late." he said and I nodded. "We should go to bed." he said and I nodded. "Carry me." I said and he smiled and stood with me in his arms. He jumped down and walked inside.

He kicked the door closed and walked us to our room. He put me down hung his lab coat and got into and undershirt and shorts with the same stitched design as the rest of the house. He got in and took off his glasses. I rolled over and laid on his chest. He smiled a little and put an arm around my waist. I soon fell asleep to the sound of his heart beat.

I dreamt about being in Stein's Lab. I was chained to a cold metal table. I looked around the room and saw the silhouette of a screw. I looked a bit more and the lights came on. I blinked and saw Stein. He walked over to me and I saw his eyes. He didn't have the normal yellow green tint they normally did. They looked darker and almost black. I looked at him and looked at his facial expression. He had the crooked grin of a mad person.

He put a hand on my chin and the other went to a pocket in his coat. He pulled out a sharp and shiny scalpel. He ran it along my shirt and I heard the popping ripping sound of the shirt material. I cringed as my ripped shirt fell to the sides hanging from my shoulders. He smiled and ran a cold hand along my stomach. I shivered and his grin grew. "I would like to dissect you now." I said and ran the scalpel along my chest to my stomach. I screamed in pain. I woke up to Stein hovering above me with a worried look on his face. "(y/n) are you alright what happened?" he asked and I sat up. He stood and looked at me. Before I could say anything I burst into tears and held my face in my hands.

He sat down and put me on his lap. "Tell me what happened." he said and looked at me frowning worry in his eyes. "Y-you went mad a-and tried to d-dissect me." I said and he looked at me. "(y/n) I would never do that." he said and held me closer. "I know." I said and he rubbed my back as I calmed down. "I would never be able to anyway." he said and I looked at him. "I love you too much I don't want any harm to come to you." he said and I nodded and smiled. " I love you too, Stein." I said and he kissed me.

I smiled and kissed back. "Now try and go back to sleep I'll be right here if you need me alright?" he said and I nodded. He stood up and put me back in bed. His hand lingered on mine as he didn't want to let go. I smiled and fell asleep.

Stein's POV

I watched as (y/n) fell asleep. I slowly let go of her hand and stood. I walked over to the phone and called Spirit. "Hey.." he said and I looked at (y/n). "I need you over here now." I said and hung up. I looked at (y/n) and made sure she wouldn't have any more dreams when the doorbell rang. She rolled over and sighed. I went to the door and opened it. Spirit was there and he looked tired. "What's wrong?" he asked and I let him in. He sat on the couch while I stood and looked down the hall.

"Stein.." he said and I looked at him. "(y/n) had a dream about me and my madness."  I said and he looked at me. "What do you think it could mean something?" he asked and I nodded turning the screw in my head. It clicked and I looked back to Spirit. "What do you think?" I asked and he thought for a moment. " I think you're worried about it too much." he said and I looked at him, "Spirit...what if that happens and I can't stop myself and it drives her from me?" I asked and plopped on the couch opposite from him.

He stood and put a hand on my shoulder. "Stein you know that whatever happens she won't go anywhere...." he said and I looked at him. 'Yea you actually might be right for once." I said and he smiled. "I am?...i-i I mean I know i am." he said and I chuckled. "Way to boost your ego Spirit." I said and he shrugged

"STEIN HELP." We heard and ran down the hall. I opened the door and found (y/n) on the floor. She looked as if she had seen a ghost. I ran over and Spirit stayed at the door. "What? What happened?" I asked and knelt down. She looked at me and to Spirit. "That....dream...came...back.." she said and I looked at Spirit. He looked at me and matched the worry that I had. I helped her up and we went to the kitchen. I put her on the counter and looked at Spirit. "What do we do?" I asked and he sighed. "Call Lord Death." he said and I went and got a piece of glass.

I put on the counter and let it lean on the wall. "42-42-564 whenever you want to knock on Death's door." I said and watched as he appeared on the screen. "Lord Death we have a problem." I said and he got closer to the screen. "Is it about (y/n)?" he asked and I looked at her and nodded. "Well what is it?" he asked

Spirit gave me a nod and I looked at the screen. "Lord Death...(y/n) has reason to believe my madness will come back." I said and he sighed "I see." he said and I looked at the floor. "What do you want us to do?" I asked and looked at the screen. "Stein...I told you....we have to wait and see and hope it doesn't" he siad and I pounded my fist on the counter. "Dammit...can't you see that I don't want to hurt her?!" I asked and he jumped back. "Yes I can Stein....but we don't know if it will....how did she even have the idea in the first place?" he asked and I looked at her.

"She had a dream that I was trying to dissect her and had fallen into madness." I said and he nodded. "Hmm well...I can have Soul and Maka take her in and make sure." he said and I looked at Lord Death. "No I want her to stay with me." I said and he looked at me. "Stein you can't have her not knowing what will happen with the madness." he said and I felt (y/n) put a hand on my shoulder. "Stein I believe you won't hurt me....I know how to work a phone if you do go under then I'm close behind you know that maybe we could be insane together." she said and I smiled a little.

"There you go always seeing the brighter side of things." I said and she smiled. "Only when I'm with you." she said. I walked over to her and gave her a hug. "I guess we can find out what happens...but the last time this happened it was because of a witch..." I said and Spirit whimpered. "I hate what she did to Crona." he said and I nodded. "No parent should ever do that." He said and walked out.

"Thanks Lord Death but I'll see you tomorrow." I said and he made his peace sign and faded away, . I looked at (y/n) and sighed. "What if i get brought back into the madness and you don't?" I asked and she thought for a moment "I would still love you." I said and he nodded.
