"Please, stay back. I don't want to hurt you" he pleaded helplessly. His big eyes were filled with terror. He was scared, and not for himself, but for me. I dropped my guard and managed a small smile. In that moment, I looked at him as he truly was. What he had been through, what kind of person he is and was.
And I accepted it.
Because, after all, that's what love is all about.
