Chapter Three

After the incident with Jethro it was late. Quinn decided that it would be a good idea to start kicking people out and start clearing up. Quinn asked Rebecca and I if we wanted to stay the night in the spare rooms as school starts later tomorrow. I texted my father asking if I could stay. I was surprised that he said yes. Rebecca’s parents agreed also.

By the time Rebecca and I has set up the two spare single beds in the spare room, Rebecca started questioning me about what happened between me and Jethro, and why Quinn dumped him in the pool.

“So why did Quinn dump Jethro into the pool?” Rebecca asked “Some said he was seen just before, he went over talking to you.”

“Yeah they were right. He came over stood in front of me blocking my sunlight so typically I called him a fat pig.” I replied with my mind not really on the subject.

“Why was he over by you then?” Rebecca wanted the full story I could tell.

“He said he wanted me. Wanted to go out with me I think.” I replied.

“Ahh!” she screamed.

“Shut up would you 'Becca!” I yelled not wanting to get into a discussion about this. I flopped down on to the bed I was going to be sleeping in. “Just go to sleep!” I exclaimed.

“Heeey Aroha!” called Destiny once we arrived through the gates at school. Destiny was in the popular Pakeha Group.

“Hi? Destiny right?” I asked unsure of why she was talking to me.

“Yeah I’m Destiny. Um… well…” she was nervous about talking to me I could see.

“What?” I asked getting inpatient “Would you just spit it out already?”

“Jethrowantstospeaktoyou,” she spat out in one breath.

“WHAT!” yelled Quinn from behind me. “Wait why?”

“He just asked me to come over and ask you to come speak to him. NOW!” she said pulling my arm.

“Quinn, Rebecca you’re coming too.” I demanded over my shoulder at them.

Destiny pulled me to the popular’s Pakeha group. “Shit!” was all my brain was saying to me.

“This is a bad idea.”

“Thank you Destiny you managed to bring her to me without her putting up a fight,” said Jethro waving her off. “Finally she is gone. Why are you two here?” he asked Rebecca and Quinn.

“I told them to come,” I told him wanting to run away from here. “You want to talk to me than they are staying.”

“Yeah. I’m here in case she needs me to throw you into a poll again,” murmured Quinn.

“Right then fine. Aroha, I want you to go out with me” said Jethro. I was shocked. Rebecca gasped. Quinn crossed his arms across his chest. I knew he was waiting for my reponse. Everyone knows that Jethro gets what he wants. By I want you to go out with me he means you’re going out with me. “Are you going to answer me?” he asked.

“NO," I said crossing my arms across my chest.

“What do you mean, 'no'?” asked Rebecca absolutely shocked now.

“I mean No. I’m not going out with you Jethro.” I replied.

He looked shocked at my reply. Quinn smiled and uncrossed his arms.

“Well she has spoken.” said Quinn with a smile in his voice “Let’s go babes”.

Quinn linked his arm through mine and Rebecca’s pulling us into the direction of our History Class.

“Wait Aroha,” called Jethro. I spun around to look at him. “Do you not want to go out with me because you are going out with that shit!” he was pointing at Quinn now. All the anger boiled up inside me.

“NO!” I shouted running towards him. “I AM NOT GOING OUT WITH QUINN, HE IS MY BEST FRIEND” I yelled right in his face. “I DON’T WANT TO GO OUT WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE A FUCKING ASS!” with that I punched him hard in the jaw leaving him with his mouth gaping open. I ran back to Quinn and Rebecca.

“Wow!” exclaimed Rebecca extremely shocked.

“You really have guts babe,” said Quinn pulling me into a hug. “You didn’t even ask me to chuck him into a pool again.” I was laughing now. This is why I really like Quinn, he always knows how to make me smile.

“Let’s go to History,” I said linking my arms through Rebecca and Quinn’s.

After school rolled around fairly quickly. I was glad to have been able to avoid Jethro all of the school day since the incident this morning.

Rebecca said she was going off to finish some Art thing before the end of the year. That just left Quinn and I.

“Hey bro?” I asked Quinn who had linked his arm around mine.

“Yeah babe,” he responded walking me to his car.

“I was thinking. Do you want to go out shopping this afternoon?” I stopped him walking so I could see his face. He knew what I meant by shopping.

“Yeah, okay babe. Where do you want to go shop aye?” he seemed happy with wanting to go shopping with me.

“Let’s go Westfield I need some new clothes and then to JB HiFi. I want some new tunes” I now was pulling him to the car.

“Okay let’s go!”

We finished our shopping for the clothing and had gotten a bite of food to eat.

“Hey babe I just saw the Pakeha Popular Group walk in. Shall we leave?” Quinn asked me as he knew that I didn’t want another run in with Jethro.

“Yeah bro, let’s go tunes shopping now.”

We walked out of Westfield and drove into the city to go to JB HiFi. We shopped around JB HiFi for a while then went next door to the rock shop.

“Oh shit!” I squealed like a girl with delight. They had the newest bass and electric customised guitars on sale.

The electric guitar was a Fender! It was painted with blue and green flames on a black background. The bass guitar was neon green, blue and yellow with neon orange glow in the dark hearts on it.

I was gobsmacked. I wanted them so much.

“Wow,” Quinn said when he finally found me. “You going to get one?”

“Yeah of course bro” I said remembering that dad had put a few thousand into a music account for me.

I walked up to the man at the service desk and asked how much both of them would cost together.

“$1680.00” said the sales man. “That’s just for the electric and bass with cords”.

“I’ll take them both”. I said pulling out my wallet. “Oi Quinn get over here and help me carry these to the car.”

“Coming babe,” he said rushing over to grab the electric off the sales man.

“Thank you man. I’ll be back to buy more later.” I said after paying for the instruments.

Quinn dropped me and all my shopping off at dads place. “Cheers bro,” I called after him walking inside.
