Chapter Nine

After getting home late from Quinn’s though he lives right next door dad made me explain to him what happened, as Ocean invited herself around for a feed and ate all papa’s dinner for tonight. Dad was happy that I didn’t reject Quinn as he really liked him. He said “I’m happy for you both, but just remember I’m too young to be a grandfather.” Like seriously!? Nothing like that will be happening for a long time. I fell asleep thinking of how silly my dad was.

‘Yawn!’ I stretched my stiff arms out above my head. I rolled over and looked at my clock. 11:49 AM. Shit! I had missed dad’s famous cooked breakfast. No pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages for me. Like every morning I dragged my lazy butt out of bed and into my bathroom to get ready for the day. I chose my pair of demin shorts and black singlet with a bright neon yellow ‘A’ on the front and went to get dressed. After tying my hair into a bun quickly I headed down stairs to get a feed.

To my stomachs happiness dad had left me a stack of pancakes in the microwave to eat. He really thinks of my stomach when he cooks. I heated up the pancakes quickly and made myself a kiwifruit, banana and berry thick shake. Grabbing my phone off the bench before sitting down at the table. Shovelling a massive forkful of pancakes with runny maple syrup into my mouth I opened up my phone to check my messages. Three unread messages. Wow! People love me!

From: Quinn

Morning love, come over when you wake up

From: Ripeka

Yo! Wanna hang out 2dae?

From: Ocean is da bomb!

I wanna partly todae. Get lover boy next door to throw me a massive party with beer.

I had to laugh at Quinn’s and Ocean’s messages. He was just trying to be sweet, this might not work out. Ocean loves making other people do things for her, the result of her being bossy and a bully. I replied to Rebecca first.

To: Ripeka

Duno. Going to head to Q’s

Meet there?

Five minutes later she replied.

From: Ripeka

Sweet as! C ya in 20

I finished feeding my never full stomach and ran up stair to grab some jandles and sunglasses. I picked up my keys off the rack and headed out the door, jumping the fence to Quinn’s. Before I could open the door myself he had opened it and pulled me into a tight hug.

“Bro…I can’t breathe,” I whispered trying to get out of his arms. No matter how hard I tried to pull away I couldn’t, his strength he gained from playing rugby and boxing held me tight to his chest. After what felt like ages he finally let me go.

“Ripeka’s here,” he said kissing my head.

I turned to see Rebecca pulling up to Quinn’s drive way in her sporty red Mazda MX-5 soft top. I walked down his front steps to her as she walked up his path.

“He hasn’t got you pregnant yet has he? Because if he has I’m going to kick his stupid ass all the way to Jupiter,” she said sternly giving me a hug which wasn’t as tight as Quinn’s.

“No,” I said laughing. “That’s not going to happen”.

“Whatever you say,” she pulled me by my arm all the way back up his front steps and into his kitchen. She sat down on one of the bar stools and I joined her on the other one while Quinn turned down the radio. “I want us to have a big, fantastic, massive party,” Rebecca declared.
