Chapter Ten

I had to stay in the police cell overnight, until dad came to pick me up. He drove us back home. Once we were inside he said to me

"Aroha. I am disappointed in you. For the next three days I am banning you from being in my house. If I find out that you are back in that cell I will leave you there."

I looked to the ground feeling guilty, tears starting to form in my eyes I looked up at my father.

“I understand. But where will I stay?" I asked not wanting to have to stay in the back shed or on the street.

He thought long and hard before he answered me.

"I don’t care where you stay as long as you don’t end up back in that cell or pregnant," with that he left the room.

I went to my bedroom and pack my important things and some clothes. My chargers, iPod, phone, laptop, lip balm, sunglasses, fitness gear, underwear and clothes for a week were packed into my duffle bag. I walked down stairs and saw dad sitting in the lounge. He looked deep in thought.

"Bye dad" I said softly as I opened the front door and walked out.

I walked to Quinn’s knowing I was always welcomed there. I knocked on his front door and he opened it.

"Hey babe," he said pulling me into his arms. "Please try to stay out of the cells. I don’t like thinking that you are in there."

He looked down at my bag.

"Dad said I was banned from his house for three days. Could I stay with you?" I asked feeling upset that I had let my father down.

"I’ll go put your bag in your room for you," Quinn said taking my bag.

I walked into the lounge and flopped down onto the couch. I grabbed the remote and turned the TV on. Surfing through the channels I found that there was nothing on of interest and turned the TV off. I stood up and turned Quinn’s surround sound stereo on. I let the music blast through the speakers. I started dancing around swinging my hips when Quinn’s hands stopped my hips from moving.

"Babe I’m just gonna head to the shops I want to go buy something’s to eat. Do you mind staying here? There was drinks left over from the party and you dumbass cousin keeps calling me asking for them. I think that if I left the house alone then she would come steal them." he said shaking his head.

"Bro don’t worry, nothing bad could happen. Now you go I think I’m going to lie down," I kissed his cheek and walked off to my room.

I heard the front door close and his car pull out of the driveway. I flopped onto my back on the bed and fell asleep.

I woke up and found Quinn lying next to me with his arm wrapped around my waist. I saw there was a raised bump in his pants pocket.

He was still asleep. I slide my hand slowly into his pockets and pulled it out being careful not to wake him. Before he could stir and notice I put it into my mouth and started to suck. Damn this tasted good, no wonder he kept it to himself. The sour citrus flavours of lemon and lime danced on my tongue as I kept sucking on the lollipop he didn’t want to let me have.

His eyes opened quickly surprising me, making me choke slightly on my own saliva.

"Babe," he said softly. "If you really wanted the lollipop that much you should have just asked instead on taking it from my pocket."

I let my head hang low, still with the lollipop in my mouth.

"I know. I’m sorry, I just really wanted it and you were asleep so I took it," I could feel tears slowly forming in my eyes.

"Hey don’t cry darling. It’s okay, it was for you anyway,” he pulled me into his arms and hugged me tight to his chest

"Thank you," I said softly as I finished the lollipop.

He cupped my face with one hand and kissed my lips slowly. I pulled away before it could become anything more and kept sucking on the lollipop stick.

"Quinn, can I ask for Ripeka to come over?" I asked really wanting to see my 'sister'.

"Okay but only as long as that cousin of yours or that half-brother of yours doesn’t come too," he said sternly.

I reached for my phone that I had left on the bedside table and sent Ripeka a text saying to come over to Quinn’s at lunch. After she replied saying she would see me there I laid back down and went to sleep.
