I wasn't sure how long I had been in the cell when I finally heard foot steps, then a key in the lock. I crawled to a far corner, trying to cover myself to whoever was about to enter. The door opened, and a bright light came through then a tall figure. I couldn't see who it was until my eyes had adjusted to the light. Before that happened, I was being thrown on a make shift cot. A tall man straddled me. I could feel his hot breath near my ears.
"So, we better now?"
Even though I had only heard his voice once before, I knew it was, Negan.
I tried to free myself from his grip, but it was useless. He was strong and much bigger than my small frame. I was weak from hunger and dehydration.
"Answer me, my sweet, Leah."
I despised this man, and when he said my name, it sent fire through my body. I could feel his fingers run through my long, auburn hair. I was like a shiny new toy that he couldn't wait to play with. It made me sick inside.
"I would be better if you got off me."
Anger continued to boil through my veins, and I wanted to rip this man to pieces, but only one thought came to mind... Jackson.
"Where is my son?"
I had to know if he was still alive, and I had to rely on this man to tell me.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry your pretty little face about him." He ran a single finger down my dirty cheek.
What the hell kind of answer was that?
"He's my son, and YES, I'm worried about him."
Negan looked me in the eyes..."What I mean is you don't need to worry about him anymore. This world has no place for children, Peach. You never have to be burdened by protecting, feeding, or any of the stress that comes with a child; especially in this world."
I stared at this pile of shit sitting on top of me and asked the question. I already knew the answer, too.
"He's... gone?" I could barely get the words out imagining how I would live without him. Jackson was never a burden. He kept me alive in this new world.
He smirked, "You got it, Peach, no more worries." He threw his arms in the air. My mind couldn't wrap around what he was saying.
With every bit of strength I had left, I pushed him off, but he grabbed my arms. The hatred was beyond what I could control. All I wanted to do was find my son and see his sweet face one more time. I managed to slip out of his hold, and I ran out the door. When I got out, I felt disoriented. A group of men stood and stared at me. Negan followed, and when they started towards me, he waved them back.
"So, we gonna have some fun now?"
Negan yelled from behind me. The men cheered him on, and now it was a game.
As soon as I could get my ground, I ran as fast as I could into the forest. I could hear sounds of excitement and joy coming from the camp.
"Let's give her a head start, boys..this will be fun," I could hear him laughing in the distance.
The forest was thick, and it all looked the same. The last bit of the sun was fading, and darkness was settling in casting shadows. Confusion set in, I had no direction. My weak and tired body couldn't keep going, so I found a spot to hide until I could get my thoughts together.
"Please..please.. help me."
I put my head between my knees so that I wouldn't pass out.. I couldn't, not now. The sounds of the men were coming closer. They whistled as they searched the forest.
Who were these sick people who would kill innocent children and play these malicious games with human beings?
I was an animal being hunted.
Think Leah...think.
All I could see was Jackson's face. My life was over. I didn't even know why I was running anymore. I should just let this man kill me so I can be with my family again. A tear ran down my dirty cheek as I leaned my head back against the cold bark of a large tree.
They were closer now... just step out and let them have you, Leah. It doesn't matter anymore..nothing matters. You could be free of this disgusting world.
I slowly pulled myself up and stepped out in front of Casper when he rounded the tree I was behind.
"Gotcha..crazy girl."
"Yeah, you piece of shit...I'm giving up; do what you want."
Casper eyes narrowed, and then he looked back for the others. He couldn't risk Negan's threat from earlier, and he knew the consequences of defying Negan, but the temptation was too strong.
"Oh, I will don't you worry about that."
He shoved me to the ground, hitting my head on a stump, and then he climbed on top of me. His smell was more than I could endure.
"Don't care what boss man wants.. I saw you first."
This was it first he was going to rape me and hopefully kill me. I prayed it would be over soon. Waiting for the moment of penetration, I felt him pull off of me. I could see Casper being beaten when I sat up. A stream of blood ran down my face, blurring my vision. As I tried to focus on the scene in front of me, a sense of pleasure came over me as I listened to him scream. A sinister grin began to develop.
"Like that do ya?"
Negan had walked up and noticed the great joy I was taking in Casper's beat down. I looked up at him and went to a full smile, then nodded my head. The look on his face was of confusion. He then walked over to Casper.
"Didn't I say never touch my shit?"
As I listened to Casper plead for his life, Negan's statement played over in my head.
Since when did I become his property?
"Negan, I'm sorry she said I could. I'm not a rapist, I'm a Savior."
Negan looked over at me, still sitting on the wet ground.
Then, he turned back to Casper, "She said you could? Her...that woman right there?" He pointed the bat at me.
Casper nodded, "I swear."
Negan let out a laugh, "Now I could try and believe that, but, Lucille, here she doesn't believe that would ever happen in this world or any other. So, I'll have to go with how she feels.. She's always right."
I looked up at Negan, trying to comprehend what he had just said. His weapon of choice had a name. His attention focused on Casper's pathetic attempt to save his life. I could see that it disgusted Negan.
Casper shook his head, "No.. ..Negan, please."
"There are rules, and you broke a major rule, Casper. What kind of leader would I be if I let that shit slide?"
Negan waited for an answer. Casper stared, looking lost on what he could possibly say to save his life.
"Not a very damn good one. Am I right, boys?" Negan yelled across the group.
I heard a confirming "Yes."
He then narrowed his eyes, and down came Lucille like a hammer to a nail over and over, Casper's head was gone. I almost laughed, and the other men looked at me like I was crazy. Negan turned around, staring at me..."Damn, boys, I think she's done lost her mind...like I said my kind of girl."
He pulled me off the ground and dragged me back to hell.
"You're not very good at this game, are ya?"
