8 years later

I jolted from my bed, clutching my little teddy bear harder. True, I'm a little too old-OK so really too for stuff animals, but to be fair, when your family is hunted down and killed, and the last thing you have to remind yourself about them, is a teddy bear, then you would want to sleep with it too, right? While forcing myself out of the cozy comfort of my bed, I tripped over my pet. A white bird with feathers that slowly fade to red, and eyes that were the color of a sunset. I apologized to him and carried on to get ready for the day.

"Morning Kuro"

I see my grandpa sitting in his usual rocking chair, reading a newspaper about some missing art.

"Good morning grandpa!"

"Where are you heading off today?"

"I'm heading to the dragon stables"

Grabbing my hoodie and bag, with my phoenix on my shoulder, I head out the door for Ichiba Square.

As I hopped on my bike, it began to snow. I turned to the direction of the dragon stables, and started to petal. I looked up at the cloud covered sun, as more and more snowflakes fall, more and more the sun would rise. It'll probably take a while to get to the stables..........I'll have to rest sooner or later....Maybe at t-

A small crash snap me out of my thoughts. I whip my head around to see a rather large group of people standing in front of the town hall. Must be another riot.

"Bring my husband back!"

"My son's far too young to be in war!"

"I miss daddy...."

Shouts and arguments like these rang throughout the streets as I rode away. I honestly can't blame them, those hunters are vicious. After a series of navigating through the city, I finally make it out of the city and on the road to the Sakura fields. I look up again at the cloud covered sun. I sigh, realizing that getting out of the city took half the day. I look over the countryside covered in white snow that glistened whenever the sun would shine. I found it very calming, seeing that, even though hunters and humans ruled most of the Earth, such beauty still exist within the small land that is ours. My phoenix jumped off my shoulder and started to fly behind me. More and more snow fell, and made me start to regret not bringing a heavier jacket.

I finally arrive at the Sakura fields. It wasn't such a pretty sight as the countryside, seeing that all the trees were dead, but it was still rather calming, since all the snow covered the ground and the tree tops. I jumped off my bike and started to walk on foot. Fenikkusu, my pet phoenix, landed on my shoulder, seemingly looking for warmth. I scratch his head, and continue to push my bike on the snow. After a while It started to get colder, and nightfall was close behind. I thought I could make it to Ichiba Square by sunset, but clearly, I needed to find a place to stay the night. I kept walking until I found a small vacant cave in the side of a little hill. Hmmmm....It'll be pretty cramped.....but it's better than nothing... I finally manage to fit my bike, Fenikkusu, and me, inside the little cove. I take my hoodie off, and wrap it around me and my phoenix. Fenikkusu acted like a small fire warming me up. I hug him tighter and slowly drift into a deep sleep.

Completely unaware of the tall figure standing in front of the cove. Looking right at me, and Fenikkusu's sleeping bodies.
