Sam woke up to the sound of the heart-rate monitor beeping slowly and quietly. He immediately was struck with confusion as he looked at Gabriel's closed eyes. Hadn't he just been asleep in the boy's arms? Sam stared at Gabriel for a moment, willing his eyes to open, for his smirk to appear. But Sam knew what had happened. The Gabriel that had been awake was only a dream. "I... I dreamt of you. You were... Awake and- and radiant. You were so happy. And you held me in your arms. Why won't you hold me in your arms, Gabriel? Why won't you just...wake up!" He shouted, throwing his fists down on Gabriel's hospital bed. Sam let his head fall, not having the energy to fight anymore. "Gabe.....I... I don't think I can handle this. I might start-" Sam immediately shut his mouth as Castiel pushed Dean into the room. "Hey, Sammy. Any changes?" Dean asked gently. Sam shook his head. "None. I had a dream where he was up and moving, and he held me, Dean. He held me in his arms. And I woke up, expecting him to be awake." He whimpered. Dean's heart broke. "I'm so sorry, Sammy." He motioned for Castiel to push him beside Sam and got his wish. "Thanks, Cas." He said quietly. Dean turned to Sam. "Are you going to be okay?" Sam shrugged. "I just miss him." He lied. Dean wrapped an arm around his brother. "Me too, Sammy."
