The police sent out the amber alert later that night.
Riley woke up to a lot of texts from her friends.
Some said "I hope you find Auggie " and others said "I'm sorry for your loss"
Riley ignored the texts. She gets up and gets dressed slower than usual.
She walks into the kitchen. Usually, there is a smell of bacon and eggs.
But today, there was a strong smell of alcohol.
Topanga had been drinking to help her grieve.
Riley walks over to the couch, expecting her mother to be laying there in a hangover.
She wasn't there.
"Mom?" Riley calls.
Topanga doesn't answer.
"She is probably out getting more wine" Riley thought.
She walks into her mother's bedroom to get her hairbrush, and is startled when she sees her mother laying there with a slit neck.
"Why is this happening to me?" Riley cries.
There is a note beside Topanga's body that reads:
Dear Riley,
I know you are upset about what I have done. I just can't live anymore. Everyone has been taken away from me. I want to see my husband again, I want to be with him. So I left. I'm so sorry,Riley.
I love you,
Mom.
Riley runs to the phone and calls 911.
After the call she sits beside her mother's lifeless body and thinks about how her life used to be.
