Shattered

Chapter 3

Still Jacob's POV

Nothing. There was nothing there.
I heard a door open behind Mrs. Gina and I. Kayla limped out of the bathroom with tears streaming down her face.

Kayla's POV

I woke up on the floor with people talking at the front door. I got up to go to the bathroom. I limped over to the bathroom. As I looked into the mirror I could see it begin to crack at how horrible I look.
I started to tear up at how beat up I am.
I hear my door open and people talking. I noticed the voices.
Mrs. Gina and Jacob.
The lamp fell out of no where so I walked, or attempted to, to see what happened. Tears still spilling down my face like a faucet as I limped out of the small door frame.
"I'll give you two some alone time," Mrs. Gina said suspiciously. She walked out and kept the door a crack open.
"What happened??" Jacob said with his eyes searching mine in an alarming way.
"Mrs. Gina beat me because I put you through what happened earlier," I said trying not to bring up what happened earlier.
"But that wasn't your fault??" he said angrily.
"Well she thinks it was," I mumbled under my breath.
"We need to get you out of this nuthouse," he said looking out the window.
"You think," I said once again under my breath.
"I think I might know someone that might want to adopt you." He said sighing
"Seriously!" A burst of adrenaline came into me as I ran over to him.
"Hey, hey, what do you think your doing running?" he said sitting me down on my bed.
"Don't know just happened." I said smiling like the Grinch.
"It's getting late I should probably head home before my mom starts to worry," he looked down and head over to the window.
"I'll see you tomorrow. i'll text my friends mom to see if they want to come see you. She been bugging everyone saying she wants a girl. She has 3 boys and she needs another girl in the house." he said laughing.

Finally I will be adopted. I have been here for 9 years and not one family wanted me.
"Ok text me when their on their way tomorrow," I was grinning like I've never ginned before.
"Goodnight Kayla," he said walking back over to me to hug me. We hugged for a good minute till of course someone had to ruin it.
Jess, one of the other orphans, came in and took a picture of us.
"JESSICA!!" I screamed.
"Sorry it was just to cute not to take at least 5 pictures," she said winking at me and walked out.
"Bye Jacob i'll see you tomorrow." I waved to him as he jumped out the window.

*Next Morning*

Good thing it's Saturday. I slept till 11:00, but was awoken my Mrs. Gina shaking me lightly.
"Kayla honey you have to get up. You have people wanting to interview you." Mrs. Gina said with a wide smile on her face.
She always hated me. She loved Jess though. That's why she only beat me.

"Ok thanks," I said rubbing my eyes and getting changed into a white tee shirt and shorts.
As I walk out to go get breakfast I see a tall boy, one around my age, and a very young boy. I guess these were the 3 boys that Jacob was talking about.

"Hey I'm Hunter," the tall boy said.
"Hi I'm Kayla," I said awkwardly.
I walked passed him to get breakfast.
Finally some food.
I grabbed an apple and bit into it.
Dang it. I forgot my phone in my room. I turned around to go grab it, but was met with a face right in front of mine.
"Hi I'm Brandon, Hunters brother. My mom is really interested in you." he said winking at me. Great a stalker. I nodded to him and excused myself.
I walked down the hall, but was met once again, met with the youngest boy.

"Hi Kayla, I'm Ashton your really pretty," he said hugging around my waist.
Maybe this won't be that bad getting adopted by this family.
