Chapter 3

I eyed myself in the mirror slowly taking in my appearance. It was quite cold today, so I decided to wear a hoodie. I couldn't put my finger on it but I actually cared about my appearance. I sighed and left my naturally wavy light brown hair down and did the same makeup as I had done the day before. I headed downstairs and swallowed down a breakfast bar before heading out the door grabbing my bag on the way out. I opened the door and found Viviana there waiting for me once again. I was starting to get jealous of her wardrobe and clothing. I wanted it all. She looked amazing.

We headed out and towards the school making it right on time. We entered music and took our seats from yesterday. Viviana looked around the room and her eyes locked with Calum. She smiled wide and waved, him responding with a goofy grin. I smiled to myself as I watched the scene unfold until I saw Ashton glaring at me. What was his problem? I returned his glare with an icy cold stare and turned away from him fuming.

"Okay, so today we will be split into groups. When I call your name please get with your partners."

The teacher began to go off the list grouping people one by one together.

"Viviana, Luke, and Calum."

I looked over at Viviana and she smiled wide, her excitement poking through and shining bright. I heard a yes come from the back and saw Calum and the boy who must be Luke high five. The boy, Luke, wasn't bad to look at. He had blonde hair and ocean blue eyes with tattoos lining his arms just like Ashton and Calum, yet his we're of a lesser amount.

"Scarlett, Eric and...Ashton!" Me and Ashton looked at each other both wide eyed.

"What?"

"You heard me, you, Scarlett and Eric."

"I can't work with him."

"I don't want to work with her. She'll just drag me and Eric here down." I whirled my head around and gave him the nastiest look I could give.

"Actually, Irwin," I snarled, "You'd bring Eric and me down."

"Well, seeing as you guys can somewhat agree upon something, it's settled. You're in a group!" I groaned and put my head on my desk. Why? Why Ashton? He hated me which got on my nerves. Why he irritated me so much, I haven't got a clue.

"Hi." I looked up to see the third member of our group looking down at me with a smile.

He had striking green eyes that seemed to pierce into me. He sent off the beacher vibe with his tanned skin and dirty blonde hair.

"Hi." I responded returning him with a warm smile.

"So, I know you don't want to work with Ashton, but does that mean that I'm okay? Like you're fine with working with me?" I laughed and nodded.

"Of course!" I shook my head. "He hates me so I don't see why I need to waste energy trying to be nice to him." I shrugged.

"He doesn't hate you. I think he fancies you quite a bit." I scoffed.

"Where'd you get that? That's the most insane thing I've heard since I arrived here."

He smiled a goofy smile that sent a shiver down my spine. I liked Eric, I liked him a lot. The ball rang and Eric and I decided to hang out sometime soon to start working on the project; Ashton was never mentioned nor was he ever present. He seemed to have left after the groups were finished being called out, and I just shrugged it off thinking he just needed to blow off steam.

I exited the class room and walked back to my locker slowly taking my time, the hallways slowly clearing out until I was the last one there. I shut my locker and turned around right as Ashton slammed his hand into the locker beside my head blocking my way to exit. His expression was a mere poker face, yet I didn't assume he was happy.

"Include me next time when making plans okay?"

"You weren't there to be included." I went to leave yet he slammed his hand down on the other side of my head so I was boxed in.

My breathing seemed to shallow as I noticed how close we really were. If I leaned in our lips would be touching.

"Include me next time." He said slowly. My eyes drifted down to his lips. His soft pink lips that looked so kissable. I bit my lip shyly and turned my head to the side. He leant forward his lips inches from my ear.

"Got that?" He whispered into my ear, his hot breath sent shivers down my spine. I didn't trust my voice so I nodded my head. He smirked. It was the first actual sort of smile I had ever seen him wear. It sent my heart into little flutters and I hoped he couldn't hear it. What was wrong with me? I was supposed to despise the guy, wasn't I? I mean, I didn't actually know him, so I couldn't say whether I liked him or not.

"Tomorrow. My house." He pulled away and walked off leaving me alone in the halls with an irregular heartbeat that wouldn't slow down.
