We arrived back at my home, Viviana taking my keys and helping me inside. Luckily my mom wasn't home to see the mess I was in. Viviana helped me up the stairs and sat me down on my bed. She sat beside me and helped me calm down and regain my composure.

"You okay now?"

I nodded my head slowly. I sniffled and instantly Viviana was there with a tissue. I sent her a weak smile and she smiled warmly back at me.

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"I don't know what to say."

That wasn't a complete lie. I didn't know what to say about this, but I also didn't want to talk about it. I didn't want to get close to another person to have them ripped out of my life again all of a sudden.

"How are things with Calum?" I asked gazing over at her, her cheeks turning a shade crimson. I decided to just change the subject, and this was one subject she wasn't getting out of.

"Well we danced, and it was um...really nice, and we uh..." She trailed off her hands covering her blushing cheeks.

"What happened?"

"We kind of...we...um...we..."

"You what?" Not going to lie, I was getting annoyed.

"We kissed." Her voice was above a whisper now, and she wasn't able to hide the smile on her face.

"OH MY GOD!" I screamed and hugged Viviana. She laughed and gave me a funny look.

"I didn't know you were going to be so happy about it." She said laughing and I made a really weird noise; a mixture of happiness and excitement.

"I'm just happy for you, you should go on a date with him." I was honestly happy for her. She likes him a lot, I can read her like a book.

"I'm not sure.." She blushed and I raised my eyebrows.

"Not sure? How are you not sure? He kissed you. That should make it quite obvious that he likes you too. Just do something before someone takes him from you."

Calum is attractive, and I see the way girls look at him. He's wanted, just like how Michael and Luke and Ashton are wanted.

She nodded her head before yawning. She stood up and began stretching out her arms and legs.

"I better be going, I have work tomorrow."

I nodded my head and walked her out.

"Hey Viviana? Thanks. For everything."

She smiled at me widely before continuing on her way home. I walked back inside and the nights events replayed in my mind. I felt the tears threaten to fall and I decided to take a shower. I felt dirty, and wanted to wash everything away. All the bad and keep the good, yet if that was possible I would be a whole different person. I dressed into my pajamas and laid down on my bed, my wet hair making my pillow wet. Slowly closing my eyes, sleep came to me easier than I had expected and I didn't dream. Just slept.

The next day came in a flash, and my mom scurried into my room and woke me up.

"Scarlett? We have guests coming over tonight so dress nicely please. It's a coworker of mine."

I groaned as I turned over. I'm not a people person, so this wouldn't be enjoyable. I had no clue what I was going to wear. Guests. We only just moved in, and my mum already made friends? Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for her, but it just seems weird for me. She usually finds making friends very hard for her, so I don't really understand why she suddenly decided to move on from her life and.. from my father.

Time flew by and soon I was getting ready for the dinner. My mom had made chicken carbonara. I slipped into a green cropped top sweater and a cream lace skirt. My hair was up in a bun with a cream braided headband and, slipping into cream colored flats, I made my way down the stairs and helped my mom set the food and plates on the table. The shrill of the doorbell sounded through the house, and my mother yelled for me to get it. I opened the door with a smile before it instantly fell.

"Hi! You must be Scarlett, it's so nice to meet you! I'm Annma, and this is my son Ashton."

I plastered a smile onto my face and shook her outstretched hand. I invited them inside and closed the door behind Ashton my mom already embracing Annma in a warm hug.

"Johanna! It's so good to see you again!"

I tuned out my mom as my thoughts blocked everything out. My mom never mentioned her coworker having a kid, let alone it being Ashton! I inwardly groaned.

"Scarlett, join us at the dinner table please?" My mothers voice sounded through the house and I hadn't noticed that I had literally zoned out. I entered the dinning room and took a seat across from Ashton beside Annma.

My mom and Annma were deep in a conversation about who knows what. I picked at my food losing my appetite. I refused to make eye contact with Ashton, not that he was looking, yet my eyes ended up looking up at him. It was the first time I have actually looked at him. His eyes were of a shade green with speckles of gold around the iris. He had small blemish imperfections, yet his imperfections seemed perfect to me. As he chewed his food two small craters in his cheeks formed. He had dimples, the boy had fucking dimples. Ashton felt a pair of eyes on him and turned in my direction. I quickly looked down at my food when I felt his foot tap me. I looked up frowning and he smirked. So he wanted to plan that way did he? I brought my foot back and kicked him harder then he did. He sucked in a breath wincing. I looked down embarassed.

"Johanna? Where's your bathroom?" I looked up when I heard Ashton's voice and met his eyes.

"Oh honey, Scarlett will show you, won't you Scarlett?" Oh no.

"Uh, sure." I got up as Ashton got up, our chairs scraping the floors.

We walked out towards the bathroom before I turned toward him and he had me pinned gently to the wall.

"What do you think you were trying to pull back there?"

"Hey, you kicked me first." I looked him dead in the eye and my insides turned to mush.

"I gently tapped you."

"That was not a gentle tap."

With each word our faces seemed to gravitate closer and closer to one another. Our breathing meshed together; shallow and hot. His eyes kept looking down and then back up, our heads moving closer, and without warning his lips grazed my own. My heart stopped and I leaned in closer to him wanting more, but he pulled away, his cheeks red.

"I'm going to go use the bathroom now."

He released his grip on me and walked away. I lifted my hands to my cheeks taking in shaky breaths trying to get my emotions straight. I made my way back into the dinning room, and soon Ashton arrived back. He wouldn't look at me and asked his mom when they were planning on leaving. His mother thought it was getting late and said her goodbyes. My mother decided to walk them home and she was out the door before I knew it , Ashton's mom following close behind. I looked towards Ashton, his eyes on the door.

"Thanks for having us over."

"Anytime." I replied, confused about this whole matter.

He turned briefly towards me, our eyes locking holding each other's gaze before he turned and left. I slumped to the ground completely flustered and confused with my emotions. What had just happened?
