Chapter 4
I was still breathing fast. I don't get why Ashton hates me. So what if I didn't tell him my plans, it's not his business, I can do whatever I want. I sighed and started walking towards my next class. I had no idea where I was going though. I was just guessing.
I sighed and was about to turn left when someone ran straight into me. I collapsed on the floor and groaned loudly. "Oh my god, I am so sorry. I am late for class and I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm so sorry. " Someone said really fast and helped me stand up. I looked up and saw big light blue-green eyes staring at me. I half smiled at the boy infront of me. He had black hair and I recognized him but I wasn't sure. "It's alright. Not the first time that happened to me today, so yeah.. " I said awkwardly and grabbed my bag. "I really didn't mean to." He said again. "Hey! Aren't you in my class?" he raised his eyebrows. "Um.. I think so? Good memory you got there." I laughed. "But I don't know your name, so not that great of a memory I have" l laughed with him. He had an infectious laugh. "Scarlett." I smiled. "Michael." He laughed. "It's after the bell, aren't you supposed to be in your class?" I asked him and started walking towards my next class and he followed me. "I had to stay behind. Maths teacher. " He rolled his eyes and I nodded my head. "What's your next class?" I asked him. "Science in room 234, you?" "Same as me! I'm not going to be the first one late!" I exclaimed and he just laughed again. Does he ever stop smilling?
We entered science together laughing and talking about The Walking Dead. One good thing about Michael is we just connected from the beginning and I could tell this would be a great friendship. As we walked in the class I saw Ashton and he was frowning when he noticed Michael with me. "Mate, what are you doing with her?" "She's cool. I just ran into her and we just started talking. Did you know she likes The Walking Dead too?!" I laughed at how Michael was being. Finding a fellow fan of his favorite tv show just made his day. "Well, come over here." Michael turned to me, "Wanna join us?" I immediately shook my head no and took my seat on the opposite side of the class. I kept feeling a pair of eyes on me throughout the whole period. My curiosity got the better of me and I looked up and locked eyes with Ashton before looking away and scanning the room. I then locked eyes with Eric and smiled at him. "Scarlett, what is the answer to number 8?" "9.80 meters per second squared." I said calmly turning to face the teacher. I smiled and nodded my head as his face fell in credulous disbelief. Saved by the bell, I walked out of class, quickly arriving at my locker and grabbing my things.
It was finally the end of the day, yet that meant it was time to go to Ashton's house. My head was pounding and a familiar pain spiked through my body. Please, not now, not here. I winced in pain and looked around. The halls were empty, but I could have sworn they were full just a second ago. I took a deep breath as a numb sensation overcame me. Noises surrounded me from all around and I sucked in a breath. It felt like I was experiencing a heart attack. A sharp noise came from my right side and I whirled around. Nothing. I groaned as the pain sky rocketed followed by a sound to my right. I turned towards the noise, but once again nothing was there. Hot tears stung my eyes and my vision began to blacken. A hand being placed onto my shoulder snapped me out of the black tunnel, yet my breathing stayed short and quick. "Scarlett, are you alright." I recognized this voice, yet coated with concern was new. I shook my head no as the chest pains sharpened. "Want me to call an ambulance?" He crouched in front of me. "No." My voice cracked and sounded hoarse. Ashton set a hand on my back and gently comforted me. "It will be okay." He reassured me over and over and soon everything stopped. I chocked on air gasping in lung full after lung full. "What happened?" "I had...uh..a panic attack." He frowned and helped me up before turning around. "Well I'm glad to see you're alright." My heart skipped a beat as heat rushed to my cheeks and I blushed. "I just don't wanna fail this assignment." He said walking off before turning around. "Are you coming or what?" His voice was monotonous as he frowned at me shaking his head and walking off again. I picked up my things and followed him close behind. Things were just about the get interesting.
