Return Of The Ring

(Y/N's POV)

"So, who's the 'old friend'?" Ray asked.

I tried to pretend like I was sleep to avoid the question.

"I know you woke." He stated.

"Ray, can we just leave it alone? I just wanna get some sleep." I said. I rolled over, and placed to covers over my head.

He didn't say anything back. I guess he's gonna leave it alone.

"I wasn't really trying to flash the ring. If anything, I was trying to cover it up so he wouldn't see it. He didn't flip out like I thought he would tho, so I guess that's good." I said through the phone.

"Yeaaaah, he's mad." Jassy said.

"I know. It's not like I wanted for it to happen. It just happened." 

"Get rid of the ring." She insisted.

"No! It's too pretty..."

"Really?"

"If you saw it, you would probably try to steal it."

"Yeah right, just keep it out of Ray's sight."

"Ima try. I gotta go. Amir's crying."

"Bye bye."

We hung up.

"Is my baby okay?" I asked, in a  scared voice. As I walked into Amir's room, I saw Ray sitting there with him in his arms. Amir had stopped crying by the time I reached the door. 

"It's cool. He was just hungry." Ray explained. 

I slowly walked over to Ray. He was rocking back and forth in the rocking chair with his twin. I swear, Amir was a spitting image of Ray. 

"Are you okay?" I asked him. He gave me a weird look. "I'm good." He said.

"No your not..." I assumed. "Why you say that?" He asked, still rocking with Amir.

"Because I know you, and your not okay... Is it about the ring? Because if it is, I promise I'll give it back right now." 

"I said I'm good. You don't gotta do nothing right now." He said.

I glanced at him for a moment. I know he's not okay with this. I walked out the room into my room. I combed my hair down in the mirror, admiring the ring as I did so. All it did was bring up Ray's unhappy face in my mind.

I put the comb down, and grabbed my keys. I got in the car, and drove over to Xavier's house. 

He opened the door after knocking a few times. "Wassup?" He asked. I could tell I had just woken him up by the sound of his voice. 

I slid the ring off my finger and handed it to him. "I can't accept this." I said. 

"Why? You can't fit it? Is it too big?"

"No no no... I just can't keep it. I hope this doesn't change anything between us." I said. I quickly turned away, and got back in my car.

"Where you go?" Rays asked as walked through the door.

"I took the ring back." 

"I told you, you didn't have to do that." He said.

"I don't care."

I hugged him from behind.

"I love you, Ray." I said. "I love you too." He said.

"No, I really mean it." I said, as tears threatened to fall, but I didn't let them.
