Changes (A Niall Horan romance)

Chapter 9

*A.J's P.O.V.*

Damon had respected our wishes to not kill anyone, but he said that being around humans would make our blood thirst 10x worse if we didn't feed off human blood. So he took us to a blood bank. It was like an all you can eat buffet, and we returned to Harry's flat no longer wanting to kill every human we came across.

Me and Harry settled down on the couch, Damon on the recliner across from us. I looked up at him expectantly.

"Okay, so explain to me what exactly happened." He ordered, leaning back in the comfortable chair.

So I repeated the story I had previously told Harry, as Damon listen carefully.

"And then I left, and ran here." I finished.

"Well, it's no question I should have stayed with you after you left." Damon whispered, mainly to himself.

"We wouldnt have let you." Harry spoke, stating a fact.

"Yes, I know. But now Athena has now both shown herself and imprinted." Damon replied

"Imprinted?" I asked. What the hell is imprinting?

"Imprinting is like love at first sight. Except 10x stronger. You will do anything for him. You would die to make him happy. That's what happened when you saw Niall. You have now put a cliam on him. You will act irrationally, towards anyone who tries to hurt or take him away from you." He explained.

My eyes widened in suprise at the answer. I have imprinted? Like a wolf from Twilight? On Niall, a guy I've known for a couple days?

This is getting weirder and weirder by the minute.

"Does that mean he will love me too?" I asked, tentevley.

"No, a vampire may imprint but they are not always loved back. Though if that is the case you will always be there for him, no matter what he does. You will always protect him. It's the same for the bond we now share. Me as your creator, even if you hate me, or if I hate you, I would never let anything happen to you."

'Oh' was all I could make out. My mind kept flashing back to the terrified expression on his face. What was I supposed to do? He probably thought I was a monster.

"Doesn't think your a monster." Harry said, almost as if he knew what I was thinking.

Both mine and Damon's heads whipped around to look at him.

"what?" He said looking at us weirdly

"How did you know what I was thinking?" I questioned him, raising an eye brow.

"What do you mean, you just said you were he probably thinks your a monster, which you aren't" He responded, looking at me as if  I was crazy.

I looked over to Damon, who seemed to be in deep thought. Realization seemed to wash over his features. His eyes widened.

"Oh my god." He whispered

"What?" I asked, curiosity eating away at me. What was going on with Harry?

 "He is potestatem."

"What is potestatem?" Was he incabable of giving a full answer?

"He can read minds. As a human he was capable of guessing what people were thinking. When he turned everything about him was hieghtened. Including that."

"This is to freaky." I said shaking my head

"It's about to get freakier, people who are potestatem are attracted to eachother. Being as close as you are to Harry, odds will most likley be that you are potestatem as well." Damon was now pacing back and forth along the coffee table.

"Huh?"

"When you were human, did you have an extra ability or sixth sense I could say?" Damon asked me.

"I-I, uh, I-"

"She was always able to sense emotions, and the reasons behind them." Harry finally spoke. I looked back at him. What was he talking about?

"You know what I'm talking about. Remeber when I didn't go to school for 3 days and you came to visit and within 2 seconds of being with me you knew exactly what I was feeling and why."

"We've been best friends for 8 years, I know how to read you. Like you have always been able to know what I'm thinking.........Oh..." I trailed off, realizing how stupid I sounded.

"Oh, I'm so proud. My prodigies are postatem!" Damon exclaimed happily. Clspping his hands.

I rolled my eyes.

"Is there anything else about being a vampire that we should know?" I changed the subject.

"Well for the first year of your vampire life you'll be at your physical strongest, but you'll be emotionally unstable. Expecially you Athena. You imprinting so young isn;t really the best thing in the world, but I'll help you through it.

        Next you will have to feed every other day if you plan on hanging out with humans, and the last thing is that you have to invited into a humans home. Except if its yours. Like you were able to enter your house because you had pre-vampire ties to that house. You were able to enter here because it no longer belongs to a human."

"Okay good to know."

"And hey if you want me to I can always earase Niall's memory, I can." Damon added

"How?" Harry questioned

"I can compell him. Make him do anything I want."

"Uh- No thanks, I'll just have to tell him the truth." I denied his offer, I haven't lied for an entire year and I wasn't going to start now.

"Okay......."

"One more question....." I started,

"Shoot"

"Why did you turn us?"
