When I arrived at my cabin, I felt a presence. "Hello?" I said into the empty entry room. My voice echoed from the walls, a weird chill escaped down my back. "You must be Leona?" A voice said. "Y-yes." I said. A boy with black hair, pale skin, and dressed in black clothes came out of the hallway that lead to the rooms. "Are you my brother, Nico?" I asked. He nodded his head. I ran and embraced him, I began to cry in his shoulder. "I'm not alone anymore." I said in his shoulder. He placed his hands on my back. "Neither am I." He said.
Nico and I talked for a while, he told me his story.
He was born sometime in the early 1930's in Venice, Italy; before Hades and his brothers took an oath to have no more children. Since Nico was born in Italy and his mother was Italian (the daughter of a diplomat in Washington D.C.), he can speak fluent Italian. He had an older sister named Bianca Di Angelo. Around the age of 6, Nico visited Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia. One of his neighbors, Pietro, had been a veteran of Mussolini's African Campaign. He could still see flashbacks of his mother smiling down at him while they both walked by the Venetian Grand Canal. At some point near the beginning of World War 2, Nico and his family left Italy for the United States, where they stayed at a fancy hotel in Washington, D.C. His mother, Maria, died when Zeus struck the hotel with a lightning bolt in order to kill him and his sister. However, Nico and Bianca were protected by Hades as he erected an impenetrable wall of black energy to shield them from Zeus's bolts; Hades was unable to protect his mother in time. Afterwards, Hades ordered the Fury Alecto to take Nico and Bianca to the Underworld. Only to bathe in the River Lethe, in order to wipe their memories of his mothers death.
After they were bathed, Alecto returned them to Washington, D.C. Alecto then posed as a lawyer to tell them of their parents death and a trust fund was left for them. Alecto would come by once in a while to check on them, he would pose as the lawyer at every visit.
Nico and Bianca were enrolled in a boarding school. Nico would get flash backs of the events that happen during that time period. Hades placed Bianca and Nico in the Lotus hotel, hoping that one of them would become the "child of the Eldest God" for a prophecy. Alecto posed as the lawyer and took them all the way to the Lotus Hotel, in Las Vegas.
After that Bianca and Nico thought was spending a month in the Lotus Hotel (which was actually approximately 70 years), were then taken out by Alecto, this time disguised as a different lawyer. Alecto drove Nico and Bianca back east, through D.C., and then up to Maine. They were brought to a military school called Westover Hall, paid by Hades using Nico and Bianca though to be a trust fund left to them by their parents. Bianca mentioned that the summer before she left Westover Hall, she and Nico visited Washington D.C. once again, and were very surprised to see several subway stations that had not been there before. Back in D.C., Bianca had encountered several monsters disguised as mortals attempted to attack them in an ally. Nico claimed to seeing a bus driver with ram's horns, though Bianca didn't believe it at the time. Nico told Bianca that she was the only one who always accept him. He thought that she knew about him being homosexual(gay).
When Nico and Bianca came to Camp Half Blood, Bianca chose to be one of Artemis' Hunters. Bianca gave Nico a silver skull ring shortly before departing on a quest. Bianca died on that quest. On that quest, Bianca stopped to pick up a Mythomagic figurine of Hades, which, according to her, in the only statue that Nico doesn't possess since he collects them. However, the other quest members warned her that removing an item from the junkyard of the Gods causes a malfunctioning Talos robot to attack them. Bianca goes inside the machine to stop it, but in the process crashes the robot into some power lines. Percy, Grover, Thalia, and the quests leader, Zoe Nightshade, search for her from when the incident ended until dawn, but they never found Bianca. When Percy told Nico of Bianca's death, he blamed Percy. He believed Percy had let her die despite promising not to let Bianca be harmed. Nico fled and Percy discover in the process that Nico and Bianca were children of Hades.
Nico performed a ritual for Bianca to came back as a ghost. She explained to Nico about her death and that it wasn't Percy's fault. She also told him to forgive Percy. Later Nico also tries to summon his mother's spirit, but Bianca appears. She warned him not to summon her, explaining that she is a ghost that he not allowed to summon and that his mother has been hidden by Hades due to his grief over her death. Instead of summoning her, he sees a memory from his early childhood, where she was killed by Zeus in attempt to get to Nico and Bianca. Bianca had chose rebirth so that she could earn entry into the Isles of the Blest.
I told Nico the story that I was suppose to tell him and I added some into it.
"I grew up in San Diego, California. My mother's name is Scarlet Mahogany Spark, but I didn't know her. She would only stick around every now and then. I didn't see her during the spring and summer time. She would go and visit a man that wasn't my father. I would have to fend for myself all the time. I never saw my father, my mother would tell be that it was for business. I'm an only child, I didn't have any friends. I was so alone, I had nothing to do. I was different from other people. I had different abilities that even my parents didn't have. I could teleport in the shadows, control things with my mind, I had like a super speed thing, I was stronger than people, and more. I have different abilities that I still haven't figured out how to use." I started. His full attention was on me. I was telling him the truth with a tiny scratch of a lie. I always thought that I wasn't loved by my parents, either of them." I added.
"I would harm myself because I was different and because I felt hated, I started to hate myself. When Hades would visit, he would tell me to never use my powers to hurt others. I used them to hurt myself. I would practice using them, Hades would teach me how to use them. He told me that I was stronger than his undead army." I said. Nico looked surprised. "I saw you defeat Annabeth Chase. You are the first and you were powerful." Nico stated. I could feel my cheeks turn a faint pink. Nico then gave me another hug, "I'm here for you." He whispered into my ear.
