After our kiss, Stiles and I made sure to contact Scott and tell him what we knew. Scott went to find Deaton with Lydia and figure out where the Nemeton was. We briefly met up at the Animal Clinic where Deaton worked and learned that the Hale's had a triskele box that we could use to trap the Nogistune in. Honestly, I saw the little, wooden box in my vision, but I knew if I told everyone about what I saw, the future could change drastically. I only gave Stiles a short portion of it, saying that if he knew too much, it could change for the worse.
He would just have to trust me.
Derek Hale was on the hunt for the box and planned to bring it to the high school, which was where we just arrived. Everything was going according to plan.
The jeep pulls up to the school and the five of us pile out. Lydia and I both move to Stiles' side once he's out of the jeep and leaning against the railing by the sidewalk. Both of us share a look before wrapping an arm around him. With our help, Stiles makes his way to the front of the school with Kira and Scott in the lead.
Scott reaches for the doors to the school until Stiles speaks up.
"Scott, hold on." Stiles calls out to his friend.
Scott and Kira freeze in front of the doors. They turn to look back at the three of us, waiting for Stiles to keep talking.
"I know what you're all thinking. If this works, it might kill me, too." Stiles continues. He briefly checks my reaction, only to see me keeping a straight face.
I can't tell him what I've seen. My job is to make sure everything goes according to plan. We didn't even tell anyone else that I saw what happens. It's better if they don't know right now.
"But even if it does, you have to go through with it. Stick with the plan, okay?" Stiles finishes.
"The plan is to save you." Scott reminds him, shifting on his feet. "That's the plan I'm going with." Scott pushes the double doors of the school open to reveal a snowy landscape.
The five of us slowly walk through the doors and into the roof above us. Everywhere you look, piles of snow and icicles are seen. The school doors transform into large, wooden doors that are taller than us by a few feet. We move out into the snow, leaving shoe prints behind us. The temperature dropped several degrees and I find myself shaking against Stiles.
Doors slamming shut behind us earns our attention as all of us spin around to see the wooden doors closed by themselves. Snow falls from the sky and sticks to my body and hair. I press a snowflake between my fingers once Stiles walks away from all of us, curiously. Everything feels so real.
Stiles tilts his head to the side. "Well, this is definitely not part of the plan."
I keep silent, knowing it's not my time to talk. On cue, I spin on my heel to see the version of the Nogsitune wrapped up with his face covered moving out from behind a wall. He's limping badly. The rest of them hear the sound of his foot dragging on the snow and turn around. The Nogistune begins to walk towards us, stopping when Kira draws her katana out.
The Nogistune stands in front of us. "Like I promised, Stiles. We're going to kill all of them, one by one." His voice raises as he says each word and he balls up a bandaged fist in the air.
Out of nowhere, an Oni appears out of a black mist and takes form right in front of Kira. Acting just in time, her katana meets the Oni's. Three other Oni appear around us, forming a square. Kira quickly backs up into the line that the rest of us have formed as the four Oni draw closer.
"What the hell is this?" Scott demands with his eyes glued to the Nogsitune. "Where are we?"
"Between life and death." The Nogistune replies, showing off tiny, sharp teeth.
