"What did you say?" I hissed at him, putting my fork down.
"Considering your past, you'd be fine with me leaving you for someone else. You know what it feels like already." Nick told me from across the table very confidently.
"I cannot believe you would say that. Especially in front of everyone." I whisper shout at him, holding back my tears until I'm alone. I bite my lip and rush into the bathroom of the dinner party, and everyone was watching me as I ran away. The tears slipped down my face easily as I sat on the tile floor of the stall and just cried. The nerve of him.
"Aaliyah? Sweetie?" I hear Denise's, Nick mom, voice and the door open. She checks all the stalls before knocks on the one that I'm in.
"Oh, honey. Nick was way outta line." She comes over and wraps her arms around me. I can't help by hug her, feeling the love of a mother for the first time in years.
"I can't believe he would say that to me." I sob into her shoulder, tightening my grasp around her. Nick and I had been dating for a few months now, and this is the first time we've argued. It was stupid. This girl clearly didn't know that I was with him, so she slipped him her number. Nick gladly took it, and didn't deny that he'd talk to her.
"I know. Don't you worry," she pulls me away from her and looks at me," I'll be sure to have a good talk with him." She gives me a reassuring smile and I smile back, wiping my eyes and the tears that are creeping down my neck.
"Do you want to go talk to him?" Denise asks me, her hand resting on the small of my back. I shake my head no and she takes the liberty of walking over and speaking with her son about the incident that just occurred. I let them talk and snuck to the front of the building, walking outside the door. I stood against the brick wall, the cold and biting air nipping at my arms.
"I'm so sorry baby." My boyfriend walks out, stepping in front of me.
"Are you?" I sniffle, wiping my cheek once more of tears.
"Yes I am. Words cannot describe how horrible I feel about this." He puts his hand on my arm, rubbing up and down gently. It instantly warmed my body up but also sent a chill through me.
"Please don't talk about it anymore." I whisper, looking down at the blacktop.
"Of course. That was completely uncalled for and I should've thrown her number away the minute I got it. It was stupid of me." His cheeks turn a shade of light red and the stubble on his face makes him look even more innocent. I can't help but forgive him.
"What do you say we ditch this place and get to my house?" He asks me after I give him a quick kiss.
"I say, yes please. I love your family and all, but I'm not one for big crowds." I tell him honestly.
"I know honey. Now, let's go." He grabs my hand and we start to walk toward the car.
"Don't we have to say goodbye to everyone?" I question, raising my eyebrow.
"Nah. They'll figure it out. I just wanna spend sometime with my lady." He winks at me, giving me a sexy smile.
"Someone's eager tonight." I smile against his lips as he rocks his hips on mine. Without word, Nick kissed my neck softly and lead down to my collarbone. He unbuttoned the top two buttons of the flannel shirt of his I was wearing, getting closer to my chest. His fingers grazed my sides under my shirt as he laid me down on the bed.
"I love you."
"I love you baby."
I woke up in Nick's bed, my bare body touching his. I yawned and stretched my legs out, my feet tangled with his. I blinked my eyes to focus my vision, seeing my panties and shirt lying on the floor in a small pile. I looked over next to me, and see Nick sleeping with his head deep in the pillow peacefully. I felt a smile stretch across my face and I quietly and cautiously got out of the bed, slipping on my panties and Nick's shirt. My bare feet were chilled against the hardwood floor and I shivered. Quietly, I snuck out of the room and into the kitchen to make myself some coffee. I made black coffee and sipped it as I passed back into my boyfriend's bedroom.
"D*mn." He wolf whistled at me as I walked in the room. Nick's bare chest was exposed, the blanket up to his waist as he leaned against the wooden headboard. A smirk came across my face as I drank my coffee.
"Ooh, I want some." Without thought, he takes the mug and drinks from it. I instantly begin to laugh as he makes a face. He hates black coffee.
"You're crazy! Why did you let me drink that?" Nick sticks his tongue out in attempt to get the taste off.
"It's my favorite. And you just took it from my hands baby." I chuckled and smiled from ear to ear.
"Maybe this'll help me." Nick puts his lips on mine without a warning and I widen my eyes in surprise. But I close them instantly as he takes my breath away.
