Jack's POV

I shakily straightened my shirt again. And then combed my hair again. And then checked my face again. And then straightened my shirt. And then-

The doorbell rang.

My heart beat at a thousand miles per hour. Though Mark and I had been dating for 7 months, we had never really gone on a formal date. Just quirky activities and hanging out, never actually sitting down for dinner all dressed up.

I grabbed my jacket and rushed down to the door. I pulled it open to see Mark, a beautiful bouquet of multicolored dahlias in his hand.

"Aw, this is so cheesy!" I hugged him. He chuckled and handed me the flowers. "How did you know these were my favorite flowers?" I brushed a gentle finger along the soft petals.

"Remember when I went to see you as Captain Hook and I brought you flowers? Each one was a different flower, and you pulled a pink dahlia out of the bouquet and told me they were your favorite flowers." He kissed my cheek.

"And you said yours were red roses." I smiled, remembering that night.

"So, how about we get going?" Mark held out his hand. I gently grabbed it, and followed him to his car. We just talked about little things as we drove. Though there were bright lights and cities flying by my window, I couldn't take my eyes off Mark. The moon lit up his face, and I could see every beautiful, perfect detail as he spoke. He's absolutely gorgeous. "Just a table for two, please." Mark smiled at the waitress at the front of the resteraunt. She nodded and led us to a small table by a window.

I sat down, and the waitress handed us menus and our silverware wrapped in white cloths. We ordered our drinks and she wandered off to the kitchen.

"This place is so... Fancy." I looked around the room at all the classy decor.

"This is Olive Garden." Mark snickered.

"You know I practically live off of McDonalds." I giggled. "Us theatre kids don't ever have time to stop and eat, we're lucky if we get a bagel for lunch." I picked up the menu.

"Look! An actual menu! So classy." Mark said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and thumbed through the menu.

"What the hell is 'spasagna'?" I stopped once I saw the odd name.

"It's lasagna, but the noodles are spaghetti noodles. Don't order it, I made that mistake once." Mark took a sip of his water.

"Sounds terrifying." I set down my menu once I had made my choice. We talked for what seemed like hours, enjoying each other's company and odd stories. When the waitress came over we quickly ordered and went back to our own little world.

"And I pushed her on stage. I tried to stage push her, but she totally fell to the ground during a show. I felt so bad!" I laughed softly. "She was okay, it wasn't bad. But she did break her back in another play."

"Ouch. Maybe it wasn't you, sounds like she's just clumsy." Mark chuckled.

"I still feel bad, I didn't mean to push her." I twirled my fork around on my empty plate.

"You said she wasn't hurt, right?" Mark pushed his plate away.

"Yeah, but my director was pissed and never let me forget it." I laughed. "I've got a better story, but I guess we're both done." I watched as the waitress picked up our plates and dropped the check on the table. I reached to grab it, but Mark snatched if from me.

"I'm paying." He pulled out his debit card and stuck it in the checkbook.

"No! You're the one that took us here, I can pay!" I argued. I tried to reach for the check but Mark lifted it above his head away from me. I almost grabbed it, but the waitress walked by and plucked it out of his hand. "You bitch." I huffed and sat down.

"Haha, I'm the better boyfriend." Mark stuck his tongue out at me.

"Well I'm the more talented boyfriend." I teased. "You're lucky to have me."

"I'm more handsome and manly." He puffed out his chest.

"I'm cuter." I put my chin in my hands and smiled innocently.

"You're a loser." He laughed.

"You're gay."

"We both are."

"Correction, I'm bisexual."

"Whatever."

"I hate you."

"I hate you, too." We were both doubling over in quiet laughter, trying not to disturb everyone around us. We had gotten so carried away we hadn't even noticed the check was back on the table. Mark took out his debit card and stood up. He held out his hand for me to take, but I pushed it away.

"Don't touch me." I giggled. But as soon as I stood up, I intertwined our fingers and held him close. We walked out of the resteraunt with bright smiles on our faces, despite the fact that we insulted each other for five minutes. Once we were out by his car I turned him to face me. "Mark, you know I didn't mean anything I said. I love you so much." I smiled softly.

"Except when you called me gay. That one was true." He laughed and I rolled my eyes. "But you know we were joking around. Why are you apologizing?"

"Because..." I sighed, "I just don't want to ever say something mean to you. For real or for a joke. I love you so, so much, and I'm very lucky to have you." I kissed him sweetly.

"Is it insulting if I call you cheesy?" Mark whispered against my lips.

"It's a compliment." I wrapped my hands around his neck and kissed him more. Finally Mark pulled away and dragged me to the car.

"We gotta go before we miss it!" He whispered excitedly.

"Miss what?" I whipped my head to face him.

"Get in!" He opened the passenger side door. I climbed in and he quickly hopped in his seat. He pulled out of the parking lot and drove down the road, his eyes shining bright and excited. Finally we pulled into the parking lot of a large building. Huge glowing letters hung above the door just below the roof.

"Laser Tag?" I laughed as I stepped out of the car.

"I figured a fancy dinner wasn't your thing." Mark smirked and locked his car.

"You really are the better boyfriend." I grinned as I grabbed his hand and ran inside.
