Lunch

Something about lunchtime made me afraid. Maybe it was the whole huge crowd, or the fact that the lunch line was 20,000 miles long. Either way, I made my way to an empty table and sat. It wasn't long before I heard a small but intimidating voice behind me. "Can I sit here? Everywhere else is full." I turned around and looked up to see the pretty girl from my 1st period, Lydia, with a lunch tray in her hands and her eyebrows raised. I noticed up close that she had a nose piercing, but just a stud. "Umm sure," I replied "Lydia, right?" She looked up quizically. "How do you know my name?" She asked, looking at me and narrowing her eyes. I shrugged. "I'm not a stalker, I swear, I just paid attention during role call." She laughed and went back to her food. God, she really was beautiful. She had gentle features, and a very small amount of make-up on. "So you're the new boy we got, huh? I was expecting you to be a nose-picking, manwhore-ish, idiot like all these other oafs. You're not so bad." She said with a smile. "What's your name anyway?" She asked. I was spacing out for a second and I had finally come back to earth. "What? Oh. Oh yeah. Jeremy." I stuttered. Why is talking to girls so weird and difficult. "So," I started to change the subject, "What's your 6th period class?" I inquired. "I don't know, let me check," she said as she pulled out her schedule. "Ugh, god, it's History. What's yours?" She finished. "Mines History too. I guess we have that in common." I couldn't think of anything to say, when the bell wrang. "Walk me to History?" She suggested. "Sure. Why not." I responded. I waited for her by her locker and we went to History. I sat next to her and some jock guy I didn't know. The jock leaned over my desk to hers. "Hey Lydi, wanna be my date to the Netflix and Chill marathon Andy's throwing on Saturday?" He winked. She looked back him with a look of disgust. "I'd love to, but I'm busy." She replied sweetly. He looked back, eyebrows raised, "Are you now? Well, what's more important? Hmm?" He smiled, looking full of himself. She smiled, " You know, I was gonna be nice, but since you decided to push the issue, I'll tell you the truth. I would rather use a cactus dildo then go out with you." She sat back in her seat right as the bell wrang. Woah, I thought, she's awesome. And she's my friend kind of. Sweet!
