Chapter 4

Katniss' POV:
I slowly open my eyes and I immediately feel pain all over my body. I slightly turn my head to the side and see lots of machines hooked up to me. Then the door opens. "Hello Ms.Everdeen. You're awake." A man with a bald head says walking in. "I'm doctor Harris. So how do you feel?" "I feel like shit." I say closing my eyes again. "Are you in any pain?" "Lots..." "Well we'll give you some medication to take and you'll be fine in a couple of days." "Hey Doctor Harris?" I say shooting up. "Yes Ms.Everdeen." "Where's Peeta?" "I think he's in the waiting room. You will be able to see him in a few minutes." "Why can't I see him now?" "Well we have to run some tests on you first. To make sure you're ok." "I'm fine. Just in pain. Now can I see him?" I say moving off of the bed. "I'm afraid not Ms.Everdeen. But I will see if I can let you see your friend Madge." He says walking out of the room. I lay back down on the bed and stare up at the ceiling. I really wish I could see Peeta. Then suddenly the door bursts open and Madge comes running up to me. She hugs me so tight and then a tear rolls down her cheek. "Are you ok Kat?" "Yes. I'm fine." "I'm sorry I ever got you into this." She says finally letting me go. "Its ok Madge. Its not your fault." I say looking at her. "I'm glad your ok." She says sitting beside me. "How about you? Are you ok?" "Yeah. I'm fine now. Just a couple of bruises and scratches that will heal in a couple of weeks." She says smiling. "That's great. Hopefully we can get out of here soon." I say laughing. "Yeah. I think we can leave today." "Good. Because I miss Peeta." "Well you'll see him soon. I'm sure." Then a nurse comes in with a folder and pen. "I guess I have to go...." She says standing up. "No stay." I say pulling her back down as the nurses starts to work on me.

Peeta's POV:
I wait in the waiting room all night until around 9:45am the next morning. "Mr. Mellark" the doctor Mr.Harris says. "Yes" I say standing up walking toward him. "You may see her now." "Ok. Thank you." I say shaking his hand and walking away. I speed walk all the way to Katniss' room. When I get there I stand in front of the door and look in. She looks way better than she did when she first got here. Madge does too. As the nurse finishes up I finally walk in. Before I can even get any words out Katniss runs up to me. "Peeta!" She says hugging me tight. "I missed you!" "I missed you too." I say wrapping my arms around her. "When do we get to go home?" "Soon. I promise." "Good." She says letting me go. "So how are you feeling?" I ask keeping my arm around her waist. "I'm fine. Just in pain. They are giving me medicine for it and said I would be better in a couple of days." "Excuse me" the nurse says "we have to run one more test and then she'll be free to go." "Ok. Great!" I say smiling "All you have to do is sign some papers up at the front desk." Katniss then hugs me again. "I get to go home." She whispers. I kiss her and whisper back "Yes you do Kat. Yes you do."

Katniss' POV:
I'm so glad I finally get to get out of here. As soon as the nurse is done with the test Peeta goes to sign some papers while Madge helps me pack up my things. "Madge have you ever thought about having kids?" "Yeah. All the time! I always imagine them running around playing and laughing." She says smiling at me. "Do you still want to have kids?" "Well....yeah. Maybe not now but definitely later. Why do you ask?" "I don't know. I just have been thinking alot about it I guess." I say looking away. "The Katniss Everdeen wants to have kids!?" "Well yeah. I don't know. At some point yes. Peeta has always wanted to have kids but I've always been afraid." "But Peeta loves you. He will always be there for you. So what is there to be afraid of?" "I don't know I guess I just think about all the bad things that could happen." "Of course there are gonna be bad things that you wish could never happen but you have to think about the good things too. Bad things don't last forever." "Yeah. But how am I supposed to tell Peeta that I want to have kids?" Then the door opens. "Hey Kat you ready to go?" Peeta says standing by the door. "I have a feeling you'll know." Madge whispers walking towards the door. "I think Gale is waiting for you." Peeta says to her. "Ok. Thanks Peeta." She says running out of the room. "Ready Kat?" "Yeah." I say walking towards him. Then I stop and hug him. "I love you Peeta." "I love you too Kat." Then he grabs my bag and my hand. "Now let's go home."
When we finally get home I go upstairs and lay across the bed. Peeta comes in the room and lays beside me. "How do you feel?" "Fine right now. Thank you." He smiles at me. "I just wish that I wasn't in so much pain." "Well the doctor said as long as you take the medicine you should be fine." "Well I hate it." I say sighing "You'll be better before you know it." He says moving a stray piece of hair out of my face. I smile at him. "How long was I at the hospital?" "Just two days." "Oh did they get Cato?" I ask worried. "Yes. He came back to Madge's house and we got him." "Good." I say slowly closing my eyes. I feel Peeta kiss my forehead and get off the bed. I open my eyes and sit up fast. "Peeta stay." I say looking at him. He comes back and I move closer to him laying my head on his chest. He wraps his arms around me and I slowly drift off to sleep.
