Chapter 10

Katniss' POV:
I walk to the waiting room and ask the lady at the front desk what room Madge is in. She gives me a dirty look and points to the first room on the right. I walk over to the door getting even more looks from people. I see Madge reading a book as I walk in. "Katniss what happened to you?" She says jumping up out of the bed. "Madge I-" "And what was with all the police officers?" "Madge its a long story. But all those times times you said you saw Cato you really did see him." "How do you know I saw him?" "Well....." "Well what?" "He kind of told me." "He told you!?" "Yes. He has been hiding in this hospital for the last couple of days." "How'd you find him?" "He actually found me." "That means he could find me too!! What are we-" "Calm down Madge! He won't ever come after us again or anybody else." "You don't know that Kat. He broke out of jail once he could-" "No Madge! He's dead!" She gasps and sits down on the bed. She says something so quite that I don't hear. "What did you say?" I ask sitting down beside her. "How'd he die?" "I.....um.....well..." She looks up at me. "How?" "I killed him." I say looking down. "It wasn't on purpose. He just made me angry and I just lost it." "Are there any charges against you?" "No. I had an advantage." "Well as long as you're ok." She says hugging me. "I'm fine Madge. I promise." Its quite for awhile until Peeta walks in with Gale behind him in a wheelchair. "Gale!" Madge says wrapping her arms around him. "Hey. How are you?" He says rubbing her back. "I'm fine." "Good. Has Kat told you the big news yet?" "About Cato?" "Besides that." "What news Kat?" She says excited. I can't believe I almost forgot again! Peeta and I look at each other and smile. "Well you can just call me Mrs.Mellark." I say kissing Peeta on his cheek. "You're getting married!?" She says jumping up and down. "Yes Madge! And I want you to be my maid of honor!!!" "Congratulations you guys!!" She says smiling at us. "And Gale I want you to be my best man." Peeta says. I look at him surprised. I know I wanted him to choose Gale anyway but he still hadn't decided. I just smile at him and grab his hand knowing he made a good choice.
Madge and Gale are released from the hospital early so they go home with us. They're still sore but they are ok. Madge and I work on the wedding while the guys watch TV. "So when is the big day?" Madge ask sitting across from me at the kitchen table. "Well....I don't know. Peeta and I talked about having it Saturday but we're not sure we'd be ready." "Of course you will! I will help you." "Thanks but there's so much to do in such little time. We have to get a cake, I need a dress, bridesmaid and maid of honor need a dress, I have to get my hair done, we need food, music, I haven't started the guest list yet...." "Look Kat we have five days. Day one we will invite Johanna and Annie over to go dress shopping with us. Day two I'll help you with the guest list and invitations. Day three we'll find someone good to play the music. Day four we can make food. Day five we'll get a cake. Then when its time for you to walk down the aisle we'll make sure your hair is perfect!" I smile. "But there's one more thing that you have to decide yourself." She says pointing to me. "What?" I ask confused. "You have to decide if you can be away from Peeta for a day." I look at Peeta and smile. Can I spend a day without Peeta? Well if I can't I'll still have to be away. "If you can't" Madge says "prepare yourself to." "Fine. Now what am I doing?" "Well Friday after you and Peeta pick out a cake you are coming over to my house with Johanna and Annie. We are all going to spend the night and we are going to get you ready for your big day." "What about the guys?" "Well they are going to stay here. They just don't know it yet." I laugh. "I guess we'll just wait until Friday to tell them. They won't have time to argue." "We can work on this again later. I'll fix us something to eat." "You don't have to." I say grabbing her arm. "What do you mean?" "I can get Peeta to do it." "How? Him and Gale are too busy watching TV." "He is my future husband you know." I say standing up. "And I have my ways." She laughs and we walk into the living room. I sit down beside Peeta and lay my head on his shoulder. "Done already?" He says kissing my forehead. "Yeah and we think Saturday is a good day to have it. We worked it out so we will have plenty of time to get everything done." "Good." "So Peeta...." "Oh no. What is it?" He says laughing. "Oh nothing. Madge and I were just working really hard and then we thought who could make us a really nice meal for all the hard work we did." "I don't know. Who could that be?" He says sarcastically. "Come on Peeta! Please!" "Alright. Alright." He says walking in the kitchen. I look at Madge and smile. "And how many times does that work?" She asks. "Only on good days." We laugh as we hear the clatter of pots and pans.
The next day Madge and I wait for Johanna and Annie before we go dress shopping. Johanna is on time but Annie is late which is weird. She is never late for anything which makes me worry. After thirty minutes of waiting and wondering where she could be we finally hear her car pull up outside. Finnick walks in and joins the guys while we stare at Annie surprised. She looks horrible! Her hair is a mess, she looks tired and disgusted. "Annie are you ok?" I ask as she slumps down into a chair. "Well yes and no." "Well why were you late?" Johanna ask sitting across from her. "Because...." "Because what?" Madge ask. "Well I wanted to tell you guys later but by the way I look I guess I'll tell you now." "Come on Annie." I say. "What is it?" "Well I'm pregnant." She says smiling. "Annie that's great!" I say hugging her. "Yeah except the fact that I basically had my head in the toilet all morning." "Well just think about it Annie" Madge says "you're going to have a little baby boy or girl." "So how far along are you?" Johanna ask. "Four Months." "Will you be ok at the wedding?" I ask "Oh yeah. I'll be fine." "Well if there is going to be a wedding we better go get those dresses." Johanna says walking towards the door. I walk over to Peeta and give him a kiss. "We'll be back soon." "Ok. Love you." "Love you too." I say grabbing my keys. When we arrive at the store Annie runs off to the bathroom while we look around. "So what color are we looking for?" Johanna asks. "Well my dress is going to be white, Madge I want yours to be red, and Johanna I want you and Annie's to be pink." "Pink really? You know how much I hate Pink." "I know but its going to be at a garden and all of the flowers are pink, red, and white." "Well why can't we have red and Madge have pink?" "Will that make you happy?" "Yes it would." "Fine. Madge do you care if your dress is pink?" "No." "Ok Madge your dress is pink and Johanna's and Annie's dress are red. Now can we look for the dress?" When Annie comes back we look around and pick out a couple of dresses each. I watch them try theirs on first before I try on mine. All of the dresses I've tried on so far I've hated and they have too. They are either too short too long too tight too lose......finding a wedding dress is not easy. I have one more and I hope its the one. Its long but not too long with sparkles and little silver beads. "Its perfect!" Annie yells. "Its really pretty and its just right for you!" Madge says. "We love it" Johanna says "but do you love it?" "This is the one." I say without hesitation. "Well then let's buy it and get out of a here. I'm tired of being around so many dresses." She says pushing me back into the dressing room. I change and then we drive back home hoping the guys haven't missed us that much. When I pull into the driveway there isn't a single light on in the house. I wonder what's going on. We leave the dresses in the car and slowly make our way up to the front door. "Oh my god!" Annie yells as I open the door. "What the hell is going on!?" I yell as we all stare in shock.
