I'm smiling so much now, there's a knock at the door. 'Tilly, dads home' mum says through the door- 'dad!' I run out the door and down the stairs. Dad works in a different country, he flew back because of you-know-what. He pulls me and mum into a hug and I swear I can feel the ghostly presents of Jess with us too. We order a takeaway and I tell them about the sleep over. 'Jessica's funeral is on Sunday.' Mum mutters. 'It's fine I'll be home Saturday afternoon, I'll walk home.' I says dipping a doughball into garlic sauce. 'Your not walking home!' Dad mumbles. 'Well your not picking me up!' I mutter. 'Why not? It's only Caroline!' Mum asks. 'It's not Caroline, she's being all....meh to me, I have new friends now.' I say smiling. 'Really?!' Mum and dad say in usion. 'Yes.' I smile.
'Okay then, I won't pick you up, don't want to embarrass you.' Dad laughs, 'just walk home safe!' Mum adds. 'Sure!' I say.
