The next morning I wake up to the sound of the letterbox closing. I grab my dressing gown and run down to the door. Yes, there it is. The squad ring. I open up the brown paper bag and carefully put the ring onto my middle finger. I sprint back upstairs to email a thankyou to the exchanger when I realised what today is. The day of Jessica's funeral. How could I forget? I take down the dress that has been hanging from my door and put it on. It's a black dress, well what else would it have been? It's got black lace around the collar. I style my hair like Jessica normally styled it in, long and wavy. There's a knock at the door. 'Come in.' I say. Mum walks in. 'Are you ready?' She asks. I look around my room, anything I've forgotten...oh my ring. 'Yep I'm ready.' I say. 'Well come on then.'
The funeral is so sad.
I'm mean really sad.
Buzz, buzz, buzz
My phone doesn't stop!
I should have turned it off!
All through the ceremony my phones been buzzing, really loud.
People have been staring at me angrily. I gulp.
••••••
'Goodbye Jessica, I'll never forget you! I'm sorry.' I say tears streaming down my face.
