She bolts straight up in her bed and says"What!?"I put my finger to my mouth."Shhh.You don't want to wake up Merida."I say.She gets out of bed and throws on some bunny slippers.She goes into her closet and takes out her bat from when she played softball."Ali you can hold the bat to look menacing but don't use it unless he comes towards you.And don't let him touch your head."I say."My head?Wha-Never mind just go."We start walking down the stairs and when we turn the corner he's no longer at the kitchen table."Seriously Jayla?Is this some sorta trick?You're a big butt."She says to me lowering the bat.Someone from behind us taps us on the back.Ali turns around and screams.She raises the bat but I grab it before she can swing.I pull her backwards so we're away from him."Crap.Merida probably heard that scream.Hurry operation 30."I say to her and Corey raises his eyebrows at us.Hes about to say something but then me and Ali start moving around for operation 30 which is basically us setting up to make it look like we were watching a scary movie.

I turn on the tv and put it on a random scary movie and fast ford it to the middle.Ali runs to the pantry and pulls out a bunch of random snacks and pours them onto the coffee table in front of the couch and tv.I push Corey until he's in my bedroom and make a sign for him to be quite.I shut the door and run to the couch where Ali is already sitting with her blanket.I wrap my blanket around me and push play just as Merida is walking down the steps.

She comes and stands by us."What are you girls doing up at this time?And watching a scary movie."She shakes her head and grabs the remote.She turns the TV off and we start cleaning up the snacks.

Ali is about to follow Merida upstairs but then I say"Ali?Come sleep in my room?That scary movie left me with goosebumps.Please?"Merida thinks nothing of it and continues to her room.
I push Ali into my room and lock it behind me.Corey is holding the flower my mom had gave me that day in the hedge garden.She had said it's a special flower and it is.It's never died or lost its color after all these years.I figured it was fake even though it smells so good.Now I know the truth.She probably used magic to preserve it forever.I run over to him and snatch the silvery rose out of his hand."Don't touch my stuff."I say.He puts his hands up in defense and then sits on my futon in the corner.

"Why are you here?Your suppose to be evil aren't you?"I ask sitting on my bed while Ali watches our conversation."Oh I see Nora has talked to you.Did she also tell you all the Grancer were evil?"He says and I shrug and flip down on my bed so I'm staring at the ceiling."Well that's not true.Some just chose this side because we have family on it.That's what your mother did."I sit up from the bed ready for him to say more."No your aunt is not a Grancer.Yes your grandmother was."I relax a bit knowing I'm not living with a Grancer."You still haven't explained why you're here."Ali says with her arms crossed."I'm here because both sides are getting anxious about how you haven't chosen a side yet.Nobody's ever seen magic like yours.Yours formed completely when you got struck by the lightning.That's never happened before."I cross my arms over my chest."I already said I'm not choosing either.So bye bye."I wave to him and then push him out my bedroom and out of the cottage.I blow him a fake kiss and slam the door.
