I open my eyes to a bright light. No not bright light.Wait.What is that?I blink several times trying to do away with the blurriness.I look around at my surroundings.Several light fixtures hang around in the room.I look at where I'm sitting.I'm in a metal chair with my hands tied behind my back.Oh no.I look around for Leo but instead I find the two people who were following me.A boy and a girl. Both seem to be around my age.I squint trying to see them standing in front of me.
"Who are you?"I ask.The words come out a slur from the grogginess. Why do I feel groggy? All he did was tap me on the head.
"Hello Jayla."The girl says. Now I'm officially freaked out.
"How do you know my name?!"I spit. The girl grins.
"Your mother used to be on our side. And then she went to the other side."The girl responds.Other side? What are they talking about?
"Huh?"I say.She snickers.She actually snickers.Like a five year old kid.The boy stays silent.
"Did you're mother never actually tell you before they killed her?"The girl says.My heart skips a beat.
"My mother died from a storm. She wasn't killed. You're delusional."I say.The girl smiles.A older boy comes into the room and holds out his hand.My heart skips a beat as a small storm cloud forms in his hands. He puts his hand back down to his side.
"Actually I might be the delusional one."I say still staring at his hand. She snickers again while waving to the older boy to leave.
"Its called magic sweetheart.Poor thing.Your mother never did actually tell you did she?"She says.Magic?Yep that's it.I've definitely gone crazy.Or its all just a dream.I start laughing. The boy raises an eyebrow.
"I'm dreaming.I'm just dreaming."I say and close my eyes.
"Sorry sweetheart but no you're not."the girl says.
"Well the last I checked magic doesn't exist."I say opening my eyes again.
"How else do you suppose that storm randomly started. And the lightning that struck you,how many times was it?Thirteen? That was him."She says and points to the door where the older boy had left. The storm cloud with lightning. The lightning that struck me.
"No no no no NO!"I scream. My scream isn't the only thing that happens though.Suddenly the lights overhead flicker and the rope holding my hands drop to the floor.
I bring my hands in front of me and see the impossible. The energy from the lights flowing into my hands and then turning into lightning.White impossible lightning at the touch of my hands.
"You killed her!?You tried to kill me?!"I shout as my hands shatter the lights one by one without me trying. The girl is watching me in awe but the boy looks panicked.I guess this wasn't part of their plan. He's frantically looking around at the lights and at me.
I can't even begin to understand what is happening.Either this really is a dream or those lightning strikes changed me.The boy tries to come towards me to probably touch me on the head again but he gets shocked from the lightning and falls to the ground. The lightning is no longer just in my hands but all around me.It's spreading more and more the angrier I get.
"Your mother went to the other side Jayla. She betrayed us.We had to do it."the girl says after helping the boy back on his feet.
"Well what about me!"I scream.
The girl smiles and says"You were collateral damage. Those lightning strikes were intended for your mother.Yet they came to you.I think I see why now.I mean look at you. You're beautiful. You're eyes are very interesting."I've had enough.Seriously?Collateral damage.Well take this for collateral damage.
I'm not quite sure how to control it but I did.I throw my hands at the girl and the lightning shoots out.She falls to the ground as the last light pops out.Now it's like I'm a beacon of swirling light in the darkness.I had no chance of sneaking out of there if I didn't calm down.To bad I didn't have a chance to.
