"Quick, while they're distracted we can head in through here," Page's dad whispers as the group slowly makes their way on the opposite side of the warehouse from the others.
A frontal assault had been the Underground's idea -after Page's dad involves them in his plan- so the group can take full advantage of the one sided distraction. The camp will be furious once they find out what's really going on, but they are the best hope for Crystal and Talula. A secret team composed of very pissed off friends and two prodigy water benders; it seemed like a good idea to the Underground.
"I just hope they don't start using guns," Jacob whispers to Jake.
"Let's find Crystal and Talula fast so they don't have a chance," Jake replies back with his features grim.
Page's dad stops just outside an unguarded door, causing the others to halt in their tracks. Where are the guards? Did they go to stop the other benders from getting inside?
Her dad tries the door, finding it locked but not worrying about it. He kneels down and pulls out a small package of tools from the small bag on his back. In no time at all he has the lock picked the slowly peeks through the door.
"Uh- Page? What exactly does your dad do?" Mahoney whispers to her.
"Digital counter intelligence stuff," Page answers. "But he is the one who taught me how to pick locks."
"Adorable," Demetri remarks with a teasing grin.
Page rolls her eyes in response. Her dad motions for them to follow and they make their way inside.
"Dad? How are we going to find Crystal in this huge place?"
"We have someone tell us."
Then a pair of guards round the corner, talking about being back up before coming face to face with the team. The men reach for their guns but Page and her dad are faster. Streams of water flow from their canisters and encase both men in ice.
Her dad steps forward with water swirling around his hand. "Where are the girls?"
"We're not talking to freaks like you!" One of the men spat.
"You must not have heard him right," Demetri adds.
The group, Jake aside, create small shows of power around them.
Jake glares at the two men. "Where's my sister?"
The two men shrink back, but otherwise hold strong.
Page's flowing water stops and turns into spears with a flick of her wrist. "We aren't leaving without them. Now tell us where they are now!"
"You're just a kid." One of them snickers. "You won't do anything."
"They may be." Her dad takes another step closer to them with one big shard of ice taking form near his hand. "But I'm a different story."
"Th-They're being taken to one of the main rooms up on the second floor on the right. Y-You're never going to make it! The show already started."
"Then let's go!"
Jake takes off running up the stairs that are around the corner with Jacob right behind him, telling him to come back and wait for everyone. Mahoney takes off after them in an instant. The others following shortly behind after taking care of the two men.
One of the main rooms up on the second floor. That's so close and yet so far, the building is huge and any one of the rooms could be 'the main one.'
"Get down!"
Right as Page nearly makes it to the door leading to the second floor, gun shots fill the air and the whole building starts to quake.
Her dad sneaks a look into the hall and motions that there are two gunmen down the right side of the hall.
"Demetri!" Page gestures to the second floor hallway.
He nods and bends a gust of air down the hall creating cries of surprise from within. Page and her dad jump into action by using water to throw the guns down the hall and away from the two men.
"Guys-" Page turns and halts in her tracks.
A large stone wall sits in the hall, taking up most of the space, and covered with marks from bullets. Page is able to squeeze through, finding the boys behind it. Jake is staring wide eyed at his hands with Jacob and Mahoney staring at him in awe.
"Your parents have great taste in foster kids," Mahoney jokes.
"Wait," Page gazes at the wall. "Jake did you do this?"
"We need to keep moving!" Demetri calls out before he can answer.
Page looks between both sides of the wall, the hallway is cut in half and there are still too many rooms.
"Jacob, you should be able to fit. Go with my dad and Demetri to check that half of the building and we can get these ones," Page instructs.
"Jake? You gonna be okay, man?" When Jake forces somewhat of a grin and nods, Jacob makes his way to the other side of the wall and tells the others the plan.
"Be careful," Demetri tells them.
"You too," Page replies back.
