DESTINY

Destiny decided to stay in New York and go to school there.  To save on housing Dimitra invited Destiny to stay at the house since all of her children had moved out on their own.  One night while Destiny was studying at home Chris walks in calling out for his mother.  "They're not home Chris your father needed some help at the coffee shop" as Chris sat next to her.  "So what are you studying?".  "Just some English Lit Romeo and Juliet have to make this into something people in our time can understand" she replied. 

"You can probably use the same premise two adults that loved each other but their parents hated each other that they had to sneak around which I'm doing with Joann since her father isn't too fond of me"he replied with a chuckle.  "Well with your hair almost down to your knees" she stated.  "Very funny Destiny how's your mom doing with Samuel".  "He's doing great mom thinking of starting him in preschool soon," she stated.  

"Now why do you need your mommy" giggling.  "I'm going to ask Joann to marry me and I wanted to use my grandmother's wedding ring for it" Chris said smiling.   "Too late JD got it when he proposed to Lynn".  "Dam it"Chris said.  The phone rang and Chris picked it up.  "Hello yes she's here" and gave to it to Destiny.  "It's for you" Chris remarked.  Destiny got up as Chris went upstairs. When Chris came down he found Destiny at the table sobbing.  "Destiny what's wrong?".  "That was the police my step father killed my mother and brother saying the devil made him do it". 

Chris went over to her and wiped her eyes.  "Come here" and Chris hugged her as Dimitra and John came in.  "What's going on?".  "I have to pack" and Destiny went upstairs.  "The police just called her step father killed her mother and his child saying the devil made me do it"Chris remarked wiping some tears away.  A week passed and Destiny's mother and step brother were buried while Destiny sat at the burial site looking at the coffin she felt a hand on her shoulder she looked up and saw Chris.  She got up and hugged him. 

"Thanks for coming where's your mom, your dad, and your brothers" she inquired.  Chris sat down next to her.  "JD's paying his respect to your father, Costa hates funerals but my parents are back in New York my dad's sick he's got stomach cancer doctor's gave him three weeks to live" sighing.

"I'm so sorry Christopher I know this wasn't the greatest place to tell me considering but tell your mom if she needs any help I'll come and I know you guys will too" she said holding Chris's hand.  "So did you ask Joann to marry you".  "I put that on hold I've basically put my life on hold for my dad".  She gave Chris a kiss and told him that he's a great son to his father. 

"Thanks" he said with a smile.  After the funeral Destiny was outside leaning against the car as Chris came out.  "Couldn't take it anymore".  "If one more person said that they were sorry for me I was going to scream" she remarked.  "Come on I'll take you back to where you're staying" and they left.  When they got back to the hotel Chris walked her to the room. 

"I'll see you tomorrow before JD and I go back home" and started to leave.  "Christopher-".  Chris turned around.  "I don't want to be alone tonight do you mind just staying with me" as tears fell down her face.  Chris smiled as he wiped a piece of hair from her tear soaked face. 

They walked in together and grabbed some alcohol from the mini bar.  They talked about the past, where they were going in life until Destiny noticed Chris was wearing her necklace.  "I see you still have the star of David I gave you when we were seven".  "Yea it's kind of been my good luck charm what about you do you still have the ring?"Chris inquired.  She pulled back her hair and showed Chris.  "It hasn't fit on my finger since I was nine so my mom put it on a chain for me" showing him.  Chris smiled Destiny walked over to Chris and asked him to make love to her. 

"I can't Destiny I have a girlfriend come on I know today has been stressful for you why don't you just lay down" bringing her over to the bed.  She laid down as Chris took off her shoes as Chris changed her clothing she started to kiss Chris passionately.  "Destiny please I can't I know you want to but I can't" stepping back.  "Please Chris Joann will never know".  Chris sat next to her as she unbuttoned her top but Chris stopped her.  "Destiny this isn't you this isn't the person I grew up with this is your grief and you want to forget it but you never will and I know I won't when my dad goes so please".  Destiny buttoned up her shirt and laid down.  When Destiny woke up she saw Chris was asleep in a chair in the corner.
