The young Merida Dun'Broch woke up, squinting her bright, ocean blue eyes as rays of bright sunlight hit it. She pushed away the layers and layers of blanket on top of her tiny body, revealing her cute, plain white night dress. Feeling chills quickly creep up her spine as she heard something tapping outside her window, she thought of the most horrible things she would find. A scary tree that's alive? The boogeyman? Or those scary persons with colorful hair and round, red noses? But she sighed in relief as she saw it was only a brown barn owl. Mentally scolding herself for being such a scaredy-cat.
The little girl stood up, holding a handful of fabric from her nightgown while dragging the rest of it on the warm hardwood floor, and opened her window to let the chubby brown bird come in. Letting it feel the inviting heat of the red-head's room, it shook off the last few morning dew drops hanging loosely on its feathers. She started wondering whose it was and why it was tapping on her window so early in the morning. Whilst in her thoughts, her eyes landed on a suspicious envelope tied on to its right claw.
And because of her curiosity, Merida warringly watched the owl's reaction as she slowly reached her tiny hands towards the envelope. As the owl seemed calm and even looking at its claw where the letter was, as if urging her to grab it faster, she untied the letter from its deliverer and let her hands be familiar with its texture. She read these words that are written in cursive, "Ms. Dun'Broch, Left room downstairs, 8 Heathgate, Hampstead Garden Suburb. London."
When she flipped it around, she saw that it was sealed with something that had the color wine red. It looked like blood, but it couldn't be. Right?

She received it for the seventh time! The familiar texture, the familiar cursive writing in inks, the wine red wax to seal it! The only difference this time, it was a bigger envelope than usual. But why? She had no idea too, but even though she has memorized every word of this familiar letter, she was still excited to read what was in it for the seventh and last time.
"Mum, I need to show you guys something!" She urgently called, trudging downstairs. Having her hand slide down the dark cherry handrail while she hurriedly walked down the stairs, landing lightly as she jumped off the last two steps.
It has been a yearly tradition for the Dun'Broch family to open her acceptance letters, her parents always happy to see the excited gleam in her eyes as she read what was written. Her parents never told her all these years, maybe they were just bad at communicating, but they have always been proud of her for not only getting accepted into something so magical but also excelling in it!
"You come here, young lady! Breakfast is ready!" Elinor yelled back, her voice a little bit more stressed than usual.
She made her way to the dining room, plopping down on the chair beside Harris. She gave her brother's red locks a good tussle with her free hand, while he scrunched his face towards her in annoyance. Hamish and Hubert sat opposite them, one pointed at the omelette loaded with vegetables while the other made a puke face.
These three were her cute, little brothers. Don't be deceived by their charming presence, as these witty lads can do anything to get the sweets they want. Anything. Especially danishes.
Merida sets the big envelope on the table, while her mom got out her phone. "You go first, dear." She heard her mother say, nodding her head.
She showed them the letter and both her parents had a look of surprise and excitement. The boys didn't even bother to look up and be bothered from attending to their food, Harris got milk splattered on his face as he accidentally dropped the spoon hard in his bowl of cereal.
