Chapter Fourteen | Sticky Situation

After their visit to the Malfoy's, Jack and Merida's lives went back to normal again. The bedrooms were all girls and all boys again, Jack made sure to ask for a new mattress - knowing well what the two had done on there. It did come back to normal, but without the usual ranting though. They didn't talk, ignoring each other. At the first few days, there was the occasional hi-hello there from Jack, but always no response from the lass.

After a while, Jack noticed that Merida was ignoring her. Using different ways to get to classes, avoiding eye contact with him. Nothing... He got tired of it and eventually gave up, convinced that he's just making a fool out of himself running after her. They both went their separate ways.

"Maybe it is time for separate ways." Jack whispered to nobody but himself, feeling depressed already.

Merida stood up, planning to skip dinner - again. She's been skipping ever since they came back from the Malfoy's.

"You can't freaking skip tonight young lady! You better get your freaking butt over here and eat!" Astrid scolded when Merida turned her back and readied to walk away, it echoed all on the corners around the Great Hall - earning a few glances from curious people.

Heat rushed through Merida's cheeks and immediately sat back down beside her friends, flustered. "W-what was that for?"

"You know what I'm talking about Missy. Don't go all innocent on me." Her lecture went on, but abruptly stopped when she saw Hiccup coming.

"Hi babe. Stop being so hot headed." Hiccup soothed, sitting down beside Astrid. Hiccup was so in love with the girl beside him, head-over-heels.

"How? Look at her! She's so skinny!" Astrid went on, "Don't tell me you're on a diet, because that is not what Eep does.

She's saying it like she's fatter than me.

Merida ignored her and drank her Pumpkin juice, enjoying the cold feeling it leaves in her throat. "Where's Punzie?"

"She's at the Slytherin table, with her boyfriend." Hiccup said, Merida nodded. "Talking about her, she asked if you could look for the book 'Of Grace and Chocolate' in the library."

Merida saw this as a chance to escape from eating anything, and she's not going to pass it. As to not wanting to put anything in her mouth. She jumped up from her seat and started running backwards, looking at Astrid just to stick her tongue all the way until she was out of sight at her friend. When she was out from the hall, she slowed down her pace and she got to the library in no time. Even though the library is supposed to be closed already, she's allowed to go in.

Merida is very close to the librarian, Ms. Belle Garland. She was a woman in her mid-20s, chocolate brown hair and eyes. Always wears this dress that has a fun color of yellow, and sings with so much emotion. Her beauty is like a rose's, soft and beautiful petals but when getting poked by thorns really hurts. She was a little bit clumsy and has this passion for books, that's why she chose to be a bookkeeper in Hogwarts.

In her younger years, the redhead always lent her a hand, it even looked like it was every single day. It was all because she had so much bad hand coordination, clumsy and a total mess - the beautiful librarian absolutely needed some helping hands in there. Merida loved working in the library though, it gave her access to the Forbidden Section.
