Chapter Twenty-One | No More Sleepless Nights

The newly official mates were walking down the stairs, chatting about this and that. Huge smiles on their faces, and they looked enlightened like never before. A small grunt took their attention, and both their heads swiftly turned to look. It was Rapunzel and Flynn, both had a serious look on. The blonde was the first to stand up and give Merida a tight hug, and making the couple sit down.

"So where did you guys go last night." Flynn stated, still serious about it.

"Mate, there were so many witches and wizards here that you won't even see me." Jack chuckled out, cuddling with Merida on the couch. He's become more attached to the woman than ever, the thought of her not being by his side will crush him.

"Nope, we saw you guys. We didn't enjoy the night with you guys because somebody decided to take the birthday boy away from us." Rapunzel stated, clapping her hands together.

"So, did you mark her mate?" Flynn threw away the facade, and was on the edge of his seat. And his bestfriend nodded, looking at Merida. The young lady put up her left hand, turning it around to show the back of her hand. Pulling down her ring finger, where the words Jack Frost was still written. Rapunzel stood up and jumped on the young lady, landing on her bestfriend's legs. Hugging her, and kissing the top of her head. "Congratulations Mermer."

Jack and Flynn on the other hand did a handshake they invented back when they were still young, which they stopped using throughout 5th year up until now. Thinking that they were 'too mature' for a secret handshake, nobody would outgrow it even though they don't admit it. Flynn patted his bestfriend's back after and let him sit down, grabbing Rapunzel back to the other couch. "If you want to cuddle, cuddle with me woman." And Rapunzel just accepted the offer and hugged him tight, even kissing him a few times.

"You guys, break it up! We have classes you know." Merida laughingly complained. Jack was infront of her, lending his hand out. She gladly accepted and stood up, entwining her hands with his instead of letting go.

While walking, going into and exiting classes, their hands never split.

Eventually, they both had to let go. Jack was captain in Quidditch, and ofcourse he had practice. He convinced Merida to watch him, and she accepted. Even if she really dislike the sport, she would still go, knowing she can't handle Jack not around her point of eyeview. She's just too scared of anything happening, she knows if she doesn't make a move to change the sequence of that thing - somebody will die.

A few weeks ago, Pitch slowly tortured her. It started with pulling her hair, ending up with hurtful spells he shot her with, that dyed and cut her hair. Next was the pipe, he gave her one hard hit on her forehead which numbed most of her senses. And there came in the snakes, biting her everywhere and leaving her incurable bruises. He said, 'It's orders.' she knows that it is in fact a bloody order. But from who? She still doesn't get why, why would Lucius want her or his grandson dead. Is he really crazy? She refuses to believe that a grandfather would do that to his own grandson, and wouldn't feel distraught. But with that torture, one of her senses doesn't feel comfortable wherever she goes. She felt that one wrong move, and she'll lose everything. The same dream haunts her every night, and her besrfriend Rapunzel knows it. But she couldn't make herself tell Jack, her will was not enough to cover the fact that she would worry Jack too.

Shrugging it out her head, she began heading towards the bleachers after giving Jack a be safe kiss. Sitting down, and waiting for the team to get out of the changing room. Which she doesn't know, everybody was teasing her boyfriend inside that small room full of loving young men who treats their team a family. She pulled out her enchanted book from her bag, and started reading the Veela section again, it was really fascinating for her. With the book, she knows that she was the exact focus of Jack's weakness. Funny how it wasn't that hard for her to control him, but no. He was his Veela mate, not a pet. He would be the one she will marry someday, and have a family with. She liked the thought of that.. Kids with Jack.
