Chapter 3

Few months later...

It was harder to find some good job then I think. I don't know how many interviews I went on and I started to losing hope that I will ever find something. "You can always work with me at the bar if you want to, tips are really good" Ana told me. After so many frustrations I decided to accept her offer. That wasn't something that I wanted to do, but any job is better than no job. I worked with her and we had so much fun together, everyone in the bar was so nice to me and we became a good team really fast, except this girl Hanna that didn't like me so much but I didn't know why. Ana told me to put her on ignore and I did that. I don't need any drama at my work place. On weekends we had karaoke nights and there were so many people, they had such a good time and we had good times with them because some of them were really great singers. It wasn't hard to work all night if you have fun.

And there was this one guy, Jake. He started working in the bar a few days after me and from the first day he was flirting with me like crazy. He was very handsome but I didn't like pushy guys like him. I mean its okay if guy tries to win girl over but take it easy man. Everywhere I look he was there. Ana liked him, so she cheered for us to become a couple. Finally I gave up and decided to go on a date with him.

"One date.. one date.. that is all I need." He said with pleading look in his eyes.

"Ok, one date. But if this doesn't work you will chill out and leave me alone so I can work in peace?"

"Deal" He said and before I can react, he jumped on me and hugged me tightly.

"You want me to change my mind?" I said with smirk.

"No.. no.. no... You are free tomorrow, right? Pick you up at 8?"

"Ok." I  said and took a deep breath. What am I getting into I think to my self.

"It´s a date" He said excitedly and left to serve some customers.

"Someone has a date.. someone has a date...." Ana teased me.

"Oh.. shut up!"

"Someone is nervous... someone doesn't know what to wear...."

She does not give up.

"Can you please just shut up and help me choose my outfit?" I said little bit annoyed.

"Ok ok, chill girl. What about this dress?"  She said holding this very sexy little black dress.

"No way, that's too much for a first date. I need something casual but not too casual, something sexy but not too sexy, and something elegant but not to elegant because I don't know where are we going."

"Oh, I almost forgot that you are Libra. You have to complicate every little shit." She said waving her hand in the air and rolling her eyes.

"If you're trying to be funny you're failing really bad."

"I'm not trying I know I'm funny."

"If I was Ellen Degeneres I would be worried about my job." I said laughing out loud.

"Now you shut up and start dressing already or you will have a date in a closet!"

"Yes mom." I said and tried give her a wink but I failed.

"Don't do this "winking" thing on the date or he will runaway."

"If the date is bad I will "wink" like the devil possessed me!".

"Just give him a chance, he is nice guy and he likes you.. a LOT!".

"I noticed that Sherlock!"

Our chit chat was interrupted by the door bell.

"Oh shit, is it 8 already or is he early?” I said in panic and started dressing myself.

"Its 7:50 pm, I give him company until you get ready. Go.. hurry up." Ana said leaving my room to open the door.

I didnt have any extra time to think of what to wear. So I put on some light skinny jeans, a white t-shirt with a big blow up of Marilyn Monroe printed on it, black (fake) Louboutin heels, and a black leather jacket. My long light brown hair was slightly wavy and I decided to leave it that way. With my make up I went safe, black eyeliner will always make my green eyes pop out even more, and my good old red lipstick, little blush and I´m done.

"Wow, you look amazing." Jake said when I walked into the living room.

"Thanks, you look good too." I said looking him from bottom to top. He was very handsome in his black jeans, grey t-shirt, and black  jacket. His blue eyes looked even more blue if that is possible.

We stand there looking into each others eyes without any words when Ana stands up from the couch.

"Are you two going to stare into each others eyes all night or you going out?”

"We are going out." I said and went grab my purse.

"OK, kids. I´m going to get ready for work... and you Dani.. behave yourself." She said with a little smirk.

"Yeah I will..." I said with a what-are-you-talking-about look.

To my surprise the date with Jake went very well. We went to a little Italian restaurant. I didn't know how he knew that Italian food was my favorite. I think that Ana had her fingers in that, she will hear me when I get home.  We had really good flow in our conversation and he wasn't annoying like he was usually at work. I think I could actually like him... maybe.. I don't know yet. After the restaurant we went in some random club. We danced almost all night and I loved every second we spent on the dance floor because I really love to dance. When I was at school, back in Croatia as a young girl, I even went on some competition and won a few medals but everything went wrong when I broke my ankle. Jake was an average dancer, he wasn't so good be he had a few moves.   

 

I need to admit, I had really good time with him. When he walked me home, we kissed but he didn't spend the night. I´m not that kind of girl. Ana was so excited about us and I won't say anything about the  I-told-you-so speech that I got the next day.  

Everything with me and Jake was good. We spent all our free time together. He practically moved in with me because my place was closer to bar.  He would go to his place only to grab some clean clothes and pick up mail.

A few months later I finally found a "real" job. I was a personal assistant in a PR company and that was more my cup of tea because I had a degree in Marketing and Communications.

However, Jake wasn't happy about my new job like I was. We weren’t spending much time together and it made us kinda distant.
