Chapter 9

Bruno’s POV:

For the next week and a half, every day before I hit the studio I went to the hospital and talked to her, sang to  her the new songs I was working on, hummed some melodies that I  had in my head, the doctor said  that may help her, but she did not wake up.  She just laid still like every day and looked like she was sleeping. I felt so bad for her but I was so helpless, I didn't know what else to do except to keep talking and singing.

One day I came to see her. I took a chair and sat next to her bed. I just looked at her wondering what color were her eyes, and how her voice sounds. I pulled the chair little bit closer and took her hand in mine, her skin was so soft and a bit cold. Then I saw a bracelet on her wrist, I do not know how I hadn't noticed that before. It was a white gold or silver chain bracelet with little plate. I got up and turned on the lights because it was little dark in the room. I took her hand again in mine so I could read what was on the plate. On one side it was written "16.10.1984." and on another side "Dani". Is this her name, Dani? And maybe her date of birth? Her name was Dani and she was one year older than me. I always fell on the older girls.

I leaned with ​​elbows on the edge of the bed, still holding her hand between mine palms and looking down.

"Dani, is this your name?" I said and look in her face like she will answer me. I leaned my head on mine hands and I was just staring at her.

"Wake up Dani... please... please... I would do anything just to wake you up. I don't know what to do... please help me... wake up... I just want to see your beautiful eyes... I know they are beautiful even if they are closed.. please open them... " I was talking to her but she had no reaction.

"I´m so sorry that G. scared you and you fell... I'm terribly sorry... Ryan should’ve took better care of him... he should’ve walked him on the leash... when you wake up, you can yell at us, you can even hit us.. I would not mind if you do that... just please  wake up... wake up and hit me... if you wake up and decide that you don't want to see me or talk to me for the rest of your life I’ll be ok with that... you can throw me in the jail if you want... I don't care anymore.... but I can't live with this pain... can you please open those beautiful eyes..." I said to her but she was silent, the whole room was silent.

"You know... when I see your beautiful face.. There´s not a thing that I would change... I just want you to open your eyes Dani..."  I told her that and I felt a squeeze, she squeezed my hand. "Dani... Dani... do that again!" I said now standing next to her in complete shock. She squeezed my hand again. Omg I cant believe this. Is she waking up? I quickly went to the door to call a nurse or doctor.

"She squeezed my hand ... She squeezed my hand ..." I yelled down the hall, and the doctor came in her room.

"What happened?" He asked checking the machines next to her.

"I dont know... I was holding her hand and talking to her and she squeezed my hand... I told her to do that again and she did it... what does this mean.. is she waking up...she will be ok, right?" I said all excited.

"We can't say that yet." He said.

"What do you mean you can’t say that yet? She squeezed my hand, that must mean something?" I felt so confused.

"For people in coma it is hard to say anything because every case is different. She may wake up soon but she also can be in this condition for very long time but for sure this is good sign. We will do some tests again to see her progress and you keep doing what you're doing because obviously she reacted to you.”  He said writing something on her chart.
