AN: Hey, um... hi again. So in case you for some reason haven't read the past two AN's, Reunions is just a teaser. Good? good. Also, the reason I liked the Riddler and Scarecrow is because brainy is the new sexy? Idk, I like their characters and stories. This is still with Amelia and Jon, next chapter we'll get back to Artemis in Starling City. Constructive criticism is allowed, no flames please. Vote and comment! Enjoy!
Amelia Houston sighed in content. Her body did ache but it was a pleasant, warm ache, she smiled a girlish grin. Her chest felt both, light and heavy. She shifted in her sheets, the thin arms around her middle tightened. Pulling her closer to the owner of the arm's chest. "Amy." The voice rumbled into her neck, it sounded sleepy and just as content as she was. She might need to thank Artemis for her intervention. Amelia paused and decided against it. No, that would just give her a bigger ego that the one she has now.
"Jonny." She whispered back into the nothingness of the dark with a hum in her honey voice, that night was certainly not one she would forget anytime soon. She craned her head up, hazy eyes read her alarm clock's bold red lettering. 12:00 pm. She shifted around until she was facing him, she flashed him a Artemis Queen worthy smile.
Blue eyes smiled at her and he opened his mouth to remark something when they froze, both hearing her front door squeak open. "Did you have any other late night visitors?" He murmured to his bed partner.
"Oh, let me see; Commissioner Gordon is stopping by at one, then the Bat at two o'clock and... ~Oh! Let's not forget the Gotham Sirens at three!" Amelia hissed at him, worry seeping into her silky voice. Fear had pumped adrenaline into her rapid heart, making it race. She had an urge to bang her head onto a wall for the mental images of her and the Sirens, she didn't for the sake of the situation.
He gave her an unamused look with sharp blue eyes and moved out of the bed. Amelia watched him and followed, she moved to grab her pistol but her trusty gun was left in the guest bedroom. She cursed, mentally. Jonathan paused, listening before he grabbed her and shepherded her under the bed. Amelia tried to fight and protest but his other hand was clamped over her mouth. "Stay under the bed, no matter what." He hissed as he shoved a canister into her slim, shaking hands. "Do you remember how to use this?" He asked, it was rhetorical. Amelia knew it. She could never forget when she pressed the nondescript button, spraying what she thought was pepper spray on a rapist murderers to-be. Their screams still lurked in her dreams, her stomach churned as she nodded.
"Jo-"
"Then stay underneath the bed, don't come out under any circumstances and don't make a sound." Jonathan ordered. He dragged the comforter over that edge and covered her. Giving the bed a more messy appearance as well as hiding the personal assistant. "Do not come out unless I get you." He stood up and Amelia saw him grabbing his worn burlap mask from the night stand.
"Be safe, Jonathan." Amelia whispered, shivering. He left the room without a response, seemingly gliding down the hall until she couldn't hear him anymore. Amelia spotted a bat, the one Harley left after a Girls Night In. She snatched it and cradled it close to her like a security blanket. Amelia pressed herself close to the storage containers. She heard a crash and a curse. She nearly bolted out to help but forced herself to remain there. He was a rouge, he could handle himself.
She pulled out her phone and selected a contact.
Are you still in Gotham? -AH
She prayed that he was, she didn't want to deal with Harley and the Joker tonight. Amelia heard more scuffling and a sharp scream. Not one she recognized, not Jon's.
That depends, miss Pond. ~E
Amelia had to roll her eyes at the screen despite the situation at the nickname as she responded.
Someone is in my apartment. I'm worried about Jon. -AH
~Oh! Finally! Ha, looks like Missy owes me. He's a lot stronger than you give him credit for. ~E
Amelia frowned, what did Artemis owe Edward and for what.
-Shut up, Eddie. What if it's Zsasz or Black Mask? -AH
Would it make you feel better if I came? I do have a date to keep and I'm not a man to disappoint, certainly not Artemis. ~E
Please! -AH
As my lady demands ~E
Amelia heard another crash and her heart leapt in her throat, the sound was followed by footsteps. One set. Jon? She thought, hopefully but the hand that reached under the bed wasn't slender and pale. Shit. A scream tore through her as she awkwardly swung Harley's bat. The man cursed but still reached out and a large hand wrapped itself around her throat. Much too large. "Jon!" She shouted as she was dragged from under her bed. Terror seized her and Chris' training kicked in.
"Amy!" He snarled. He was too far. Too far to reach her. "Get away from her!" Was that panic? Amy pressed the button, fingers fumbling and gas billowed forth. Browns and greens oozed into the face of her attacker. He howled as he felt the terror that threatened to paralyze her. That only seemed to spur him on. His sausage like fingers squeezed, applying pressure. Pressure hat wasn't meant to be applied. He had a vice grip on her neck. Amy couldn't breathe. Black spots swarmed her vision. No. She couldn't die yet. Not like this. She couldn't but her body wouldn't obey her wishes. Her heart shuddered, stuttering like a damaged engine on it's last mile.
"Hold on, my dear." A proud and smooth voice echoed above Jon's shouts. Close, so close. "I need to save your assistant." Shots rang out, shaking her whole world and rattled her bones but the pressure disappeared.
"Amelia? What's going on, Eddie?!" Artemis shouted through the speaker.
"Edward."
"Hello, Miss Pond." Edward knelt at her side, inspecting the fresh bruises. Green eyes held some concern in their depths as he scanned the injuries. "Looks like I arrived in the nick of time."
Amelia gasped in response.
"Move, Enigma." Jon growled and the other rouge retreated pressing the phone back to his ear. He replaced the genius and she saw worry in his icy gaze. She stared, unable to form a sentence. Cool fingers pressed into her neck and she flinched. "Amelia?" He wanted permission.
"I-" Amelia blinked, that was her voice? She sounded like a 70 year smoker.
"I'll get you tea and ointment." Jon sent Edward, a stern look and he left the bedroom. Amelia was greeted with the sight of her dead attacker, nausea swarmed her.
"Here." Edward handed her the trash bin that she kept at her bedside and she grabbed it, greedily. She heaved into the bin, how could they not react to killing people?!
"She's fine, Artemis. You need to calm down. A close call but she's fine. Jonny's fine too, if you're curious about him. Black Mask henchmen, I believe." Edward continued, his melodic voice soothing her boss. He answered, his brows knitted together at her response. "No, she's fine. Don't, Missy." Amelia heard the firmness in Edward's voice and she could faintly hear the angry tones of Artemis.
"Alright, I'll ask." Edward murmured. "Artemis? Missy? Damnit." The genius pulled away the phone and glared.
""You better call before she gets on a plane." Amelia wheezed.
He sent her a aspirated look. "No," he drawled, sarcasm laced his tone. Drawing the vowel out as he tapped the phone. He pulled it back to his ear. She could faintly hear Jon's footsteps, steadily growing. "I'll see you soon, maybe. Take care of Jon for me. Farewell, Amelia Pond." He walked away to the window and left.
