Alexis' P.O.V
I don't know what I should feel right now. An amazing family, the Adams, are adopting me, 17(almost 18)-year-old Alex. Mr.Adams and Mrs.Adams seem very sweet and nice, they even told me about their daughter, sixteen-year-old Sonny.
At first, I was very surprised that any family would adopt me. I'm a few months away from being an adult, but I'm happy to be loved and cared for even at this age.
My parents passed away 9 years ago in a plane crash, I was the only survivor.
"Alex! Aren't you happy you're going to be living with a great family like the Adams?" asked Emily. Emily was my best friend here in the orphanage. She was tall, thin, curvy, and very pretty. She had Hazel dreamy eyes and freckles all over. Her hair was a shade of black, but with a little dab of red.
"I am!" I said truthfully.
"But why the sad face?" she asked again.
"Well .." I sighed "I was thinking about mom and dad"
"Alex, you are doing the right thing. I'm sure your mother is happy for you."
"Yeah.." I said believing her.
We talked a bit more, being that we might not see each other for a long time.
"Alexis Mills? Mr and Mrs. Adams are here to pick you up!" said Julia, the Matron. She has always been very sweet to me.
I hugged Emily and said my goodbyes to all the other girls. I started crying when I was hugging Julia.
"I'll miss you the most Julia"
"I've always loved you the most Alex" she said hugging me even harder like she didn't want me to leave.
We hugged, as hot tears rolled down our rosy cheeks for a good one minute or so, and I was finally escorted to the office room.
"Hey Alexis" said Mr. Adams. He was wearing a dark blue buttoned shirt with black jeans. He looked very young for a 43-year-old dad. He was very slender and thin, with blue eyes and curly brown hair. He had a very tanned complexion and a very kind face, suited for his personality.
Mrs. Adams on the other hand was very petite and beautiful. She had velvet black hair and a very pale complexion. She was wearing a beautiful floral dress, along with glowing emerald earrings. She looked like the moon itself.

It's been years since I last saw Florida in the same way I did today.
Mr and Mrs. Adams asked me many questions about myself and I answered happily though shyly in our (what seemed to be long) car ride.
I dosed off and then found the car pulling over to the garage.
"Honey! We're home!" said Mrs. Adams to Sonny.
I was very excited to see her and meet her in person.
Then came a very slender and pretty young woman. She had big blue eyes, a pale complexion, and beautiful curly black hair. She was wearing jean shorts and a cute white T-Shirt.
"Hey, um .. Alexis" she said approaching to shake my hand.
"Hi .. Sonny" I laughed nervously shaking hers
