"Wait! Lauren!" Camila said, running down the hall as she tried to get her attention.

Lauren snapped her head back as she turned around. "It was your friend! She nominated me and the entire school fucking laughed at me. Is that what you want, Cabello? You want me to look like an idiot again? No thanks."

Camila tried to talk to her again, but she turned around. So she grabbed Lauren's wrist gently, bad fucking move.

Lauren's hand collided with Camila's cheek so fast. Camila held the side of her face, looking at Lauren. Their eyes were seeing through each other when Camila lifted her own hand, leaving a long, red mark across Lauren's face.

Lauren didn't even flinch. She pushed Camila against the wall and hovered over her. All Camila could do was stare at Lauren's lips, and Lauren looked Camila dead in the eye.

That's when Lauren slowly leaned it, Camila inching closer as well. It was then when Lauren pulled away quickly, slapping her in the face again. Camila didn't move, though. Camila stayed staring in her eyes as Lauren spoke.

"It won't be that easy, Camz."

-

"She even called me Camz!" Camila exclaimed, holding a pouch of ice onher face as she was talking to Lucas.

"Camila, I honestly don't think you should keep trying to talk to her. She hit you in the face twice, and I'm not trying to blame you, but I don't have the right to blame her. You never visited her in the hospital. I would have slapped you too."

"I did. With you."

"Is she okay?" Lucas asked the doctor, tears welled up in his eyes.

Camila and Lucas were currently at the hospital, two days after the summer kickoff.  Lucas's mother had an extreme heat stroke,  from there she had been in the hospital for a few hours. What caught Camila's attention was the thirteen year old voice, an extremely familiar voice.

While Lucas talked to the doctor, Camila took a glance into the next room, seeing Lauren's family. Her sister Taylor, Her Brother Chris, and her parents. She made sure that she wasn't seen, not after what happened just 48 hours before.

After Lauren's family left the room, she heard them talking about going down to the cafeteria. She waited until they were inside the elevator to quickly make her way inside the room.

She saw her ex-girlfriend laying there, asleep, and pale. So many thoughts were running through her mind. She took a glance at a clipboard report on the side table.

severe car accident, 48 hours in counting. Driving drunk.

Lauren Michelle Jauregui, 16 years of age, female, paralyzed within the legs.

Camila felt tears well up in her eyes as she slowly walked towards Lauren, making sure her eyes were closed. She sat down in the seat next to her before hesitantly taking her hand.

"Hey..." She mumbled, staring at her crust eyelashes, and chapped lips. She obviously hasn't woken up yet. She moved her thumb towards the pressure point on Lauren's wrist, making sure there was still a pulse.

She smiled to herself, chewing on her bottom lip and then looking down, a tear rolling down her cheek.

"So i screwed up. I screwed you up, I screwed myself up. I screwed us up." She said, tears falling from her eyes. "I'm just extremely afraid." She admitted, sighing heavily.

"I love you." She confessed, her voice shaky. "And it's because I love you, I can't do this anymore. I'm constantly hurting you, but I'm not ready. I don't think I ever will be."

She placed a small kiss on her hand, staring at her slightly.

"I wish I could see those pretty eyes again. You're so beautiful, baby." She looked down. She then stood up, gently leaning down and placing a tender kiss on her chapped lips. It was then when she started to move, Camila quickly but gently let go of her hand, walking out of the room quietly.

As Lauren opened her eyes, she expected to see Camila. But no one was there. She gently touched her lips, closing her eyes and sighing. It must have been a dream.

Camila walked down the hall, finally finding Lauren's doctor. "H-hey. Um my name's...Reagan. Can you please tell the family of the patient in 104 that she's looking for them? She just woke up and I'm sure they'd want to see."

With that, Camila left, finding Lucas in the next room.

"Sorry, I couldn't find the bathroom." She lied, sitting next to him and smiling as his mom woke up. They all made conversation, but Camila couldn't help but to glance through the glass, seeing Lauren's family happy to see her awake. A small tear escaped her eye, but she quickly wiped it off.

-

"So you were seeing her?"

"Yeah, I mean I wanted to say goodbye, but now I just need her to talk to me." Camila said, shrugging.

"Camila, you know that I fully support whatever decision you make. But what do you expect to happen? You think you want a relationship? Because I can already tell you're falling for her again, and if you repeat history, you're done. She won't ever forgive you." Lucas said, giving a sympathetic look.  "Whatever you do, do not tell her you were at the hospital. She will soften up, and you're not ready for coming out. She will want you again like you want her. It will be ugly."

Camila was waiting outside of the specialist nurse office for Lauren. She was just finishing up her physical therapy session.

Right when Lauren slowly walked out of the door, Camila showed up, nervously biting her bottom lip.

"Why are you here? Don't you have lunch right now?" Lauren asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

Camila slowly pulled out a bag from her backpack. "I mean, I asked you to have lunch with me and I meant it. I brought you Taco Bell, I know you love fake Mexican food."

Lauren couldn't help but to let her small grin show at the tiny gesture. She immediately wiped it off, giving her a dirty look.

"Why?"

Camila was taken aback by that question, shrugging and slightly smiling.

"Because I know you aren't who everyone sees. And I miss seeing who you are." Camila replied.

Lauren gave her a weird look before grabbing her backpack and looking at her. "Lead the way."
