That's was quite shocking. I definitely wasn't expecting him to say that. Was he being serious? I have had a crush in Jace Hill since he moved here in sixth grade, but I honestly never thought he would feel the same. We have been friends for a long time, since our moms are really close.
Jace waves his hand in front of my face. "Should I take that as a no?"
I glance up at him. "Wait, you were being serious?"
"I wouldn't have said it if I wasn't being serious. If you don't want to go than you don't have to." He looks at me as if I hurt his feelings. That's not what I intended to do at all.
"Yes, I will go on a date with you."
----
"What? Jace asked you on a date?" Asked Sandra. I could tell she was trying hard to hold her excitement to the minimal.
"Yes, but I'm sure it's just as friends. Nothing to get excited about." I muttered. To be honest I was still in shock about the whole thing, but what Sandra doesn't know won't hurt her.
"People don't usually ask you out on dates, just as friends. Admit it there is chemistry between y'all." She giggled. That reminded me that he was going to help me with my chemistry.
"Whatever you ---." The bell interrupted my sentence. I rushed down the hallway. I can't be late for class again.
----
Sandra is dancing around my room. She looks like a flamingo that just learned how to dance. You know, if that was logical. I invited her to come over for a while. Mainly because we haven't been able to see each other as much as usual.
"When everything's wrong you make it right. I feel so high. I come alive. I need to be free with you tonight. Come on Alyssa sing with me."
I'm sitting on my bed watching my hilarious best friend make a fool out of herself. I should really be recording this.
I stand up and walk to the bathroom. I grab my hairbrush and start to sing into it like I did when I was a little kid. The only difference is now I know it's not really a microphone.
Sandra walks to my bed and grabs my television remote and joins me in harmonizing into my bedroom items.
There's a knock at my door which makes us both freeze in space. I dash to the bathroom and try to hide the evidence that we were singing, even though whoever it is probably heard us.
Sandra goes to the radio and turns it off so that the room is silent. We both slouch on the bed. It's pretty obvious that we were trying to hide something.
"Come in." Sandra and I both yell from on my bed. The door opens to reveal my mom. A sigh of relieve escape from our lips.
"I'm sorry to interrupt the concert you two had going on but I was wondering if Sandra wants to stay for dinner?"
"Only if it's okay with you, Mrs. Chandler." Sandra flashes my mother a smile. She already knows my mom doesn't mind.
"Of course you can stay for dinner. I'll ask Jace if he will take you home afterwards." My mom smiles at me and then at Sandra before she closes my door to go prepare dinner.
