I can't believe we're just going to stay here trying to survive! I mean we should be out there looking for new mutants or mutants in hiding, not hiding ourselves, we're the X-Men for goodness-sake! I look up from where I'm sitting and I see Bishop come in the cave entrance with a seemingly endless line of mutants. No Nightwing. Of coarse there's no Nightwing, he's human, therefore none of the mutants want to help, or find, him except for me. In my new bad attitude I storm up to Logan and surprise him with my scowl.

"Why are we here, when we could be saving other mutants..." he cuts me off.

"Not now Maxi, why don't you go help Sage heal some of the more battered mutants?" He turns away, already preoccupied. I stare in shocked silence at his answer, he's supposed to be the one who doesn't listen to common sense and run blindly into a fight.

"What the heck Logan?!" I say and get closer, my disapproving scowl turning into one of anger.

"We can't just cower in the shadow of stupid, metal, robots!" His face becomes frustrated.

"If you're so ready to leave, no one is stopping you..." This time I'm tho one to cut him off.

"Who wants to come with me to save other mutants?!" I yell at the, now staring, group of newly free mutants. About four raise their hands.

"Then pack whatever provisions you'll need for the next two weeks, and get over here, we're heading out in 15 minutes, I'll give information on the way there." I look triumphantly at Logan's shocked face, I had just outmaneuvered him, sort of.

"What do you plan on doing with the lives of four mutants in your hands?" he asks, and I turn to face him again, with determination.

"I plan on taking charge of a group of mutants who I can train, with my own knowledge, and protect with my powers." his eyebrow raises a little bit and I dismiss this as his way of getting back whatever pride he lost when I defied him.

When everyone is ready I walk out of the cave entrance while followed by the four mutants who had trusted me with their lives.

"You guys better be ready to run, we have to get to our destination by nightfall."

"Where are we going?" A girl with a rainbow pixie cut says.

"The capital." I reply and the blonde girl smirks.

"We have to go fast though, it'll be about two days to get there, wait I need to know your names." I look pointedly at them.

"My name's Analise, but you can call me Iris." The rainbow haired girl says.

"I'm Catherine (Cat), or Masked, whatever happens to come out of your mouth first." The blonde one says, I can't put my finger on it but she looks familiar.

"I'm Ethan, but I'm Battle Axe in the field." The guy says.

"Leah, I'm also Picilo." The brunet reaches to shake my hand, and I return the gesture.

"I'm Maxi, or Gryphon, but we have to go." I start at a jog and let the others fall in behind, it's going to be a long journey.
