When I got home my mother sat on the couch reading her newspaper as usual and drinking her glass of wine as usual.

Chuck got home shortly after me.

I sat in my room listening to music.

There was a knock on my door.

I sighed. I didn't feel like talking right now.

"Come in." I groaned.

"Hey Elizabeth.." Chuck said lightly.

My tone softened and I suddenly was interested.

"Hey babe, come here." I said softly.

She sat on my bed and sighed.

"So how was school..?" she asked cautiously.

I pondered over her question for a few moments.

"I'm so-"

"Good" I said cutting her off.

"It was good." I said surprisingly.

Her face lightened, and a small grin danced across her sweet features. I loved my sister so much.

"I'm glad." she said getting up. She left the room saying nothing more.

I smiled.

I went to bed and didn't eat anything.

I wanted to sleep so that I could see Marina quicker.

I closed my eyes and dozed off.

When I woke up my clock said 6:50.

School starts at 7:00.

I bolted out of bed and threw on some clothes. It wore loose grey sweatshirt and dark blue jeans. I ran downstairs and grabbed two piece of bread and ran back up after eating. I brushed my teeth and grabbed my phone and my bag, and sprinted out the door.

I ran down the street to my school. I rushed into my 1st period looking like a hot mess.

"Sorry." I mumbled, taking a seat in the back.

People laughed, and my cheeks flushed red.

Marina sat in the back also.

"You didn't text me." she said pouting.

My jaw dropped. How could I have forgotten to text her? Was I seriously that excited for the next day to come that I forgot to text her.

"Sorry, I just, I just forgot. I'll text you today." I said not wanting to tell her the reason I didn't.

"You better." she said seriously.

I blushed and concentrated on the lesson.

When the class ended, we got up and waited by the door till everyone left.

I think it was becoming a thing.

"Well, I'll see you later." I said sadly.

She looked me in the eye, then grabbed me and hugged me tightly. She pressed her lips to my forehead. We were about the same height so she had to stand on her tippy toes. It felt nice. I'd only known her for two days but I think we both knew that we cared about each other.

"Bye Elizabeth." she said softly.

She turned and walked away.

"Bye.." I said looking down.

The day was faster than yesterday.

In my second period, there was one seat left in the back. A girl with blonde and pink hair sat in the corner. She wore black boots, black leggings, a black skirt, and a black rolling stones shirt. She seemed like she wanted to keep to herself. She was very beautiful though. I didn't notice her yesterday. I sat next to her, and she turned her head to face me. Her face was blank, like she was waiting for me to make the first move.

I smiled shyly, and a grin burst on her face.

"Hi I'm Ellie." she said sweetly.

"Elizabeth" I replied casually.

It was silent and awkward. She sighed and turned her head again, trying not to address the awkwardness.

"Um." I said struggling to keep the conversation going. She seemed nice and it couldn't hurt to try and make

another friend. She turned her again to face me.

"Do you like history?" I said regretfully. That was a stupid question. Now she will think I'm stupid and won't want to talk to me. Great. I always screw things up. Why did I ask such a stupid question. Dear Lord.

"I love it. It's my favorite subject"she said interrupting my train wreck of thoughts.

"Really?" I said shocked.

"Yeah." she said smiling.

"Do you like history?" she asked after a moment of staring and smiling at each other.

"Don't care for it much honestly." I said laughing.

Her face hardened.

"Don't talk to me." she said.

I looked down and coughed.

After about 10 seconds she started dying of laughter.

I looked back at her, and she said

"I'm only joking love."

I laughed lightly, being cautious.

"Where do you sit at lunch?" she asked me.

"Um, wherever my friend Marina sits." I said uncomfortably.

"Do you mind if I sit with you?" she asked."I don't have very many friends, and you seem really nice." I smiled at her comments.

"Yeah of course."I said smiling slightly.

When the period ended Ellie and I walked to the cafeteria. I stood in the doorway waiting for her to walk in the cafeteria.

"Lead the way darling." she said assuring me that she was going to actually sit with me.

I scanned the room for Marina and saw her sitting with two guys. She looked up at me and grinned from ear to ear. She threw her hand up in the air and motioned for me to come over and sit next to her. I grabbed Ellie's hand and ran over to Marina like a child. She stood up and embraced me in her arms. She smelled like lavender. The hug lasted pretty long and we rocked back and forth in each others arms.

"This is my friend Calvin." she said motioning for him to stand up.

"Hi." I said softly.

He grabbed my hand and kissed it.

I blushed and looked down.

"You... Are beautiful." he said trying to flirt with me.

"Oh god" Marina laughed.

The other guy at the table stood up.

"Matthew." he said sweetly.

"Marina hasn't shut up about you the past two days." he said eyeing her and a grin dancing on his face. She blushed and looked down.

"This is my friend Ellie." I said introducing her. She smiled and waved.

"Hey." they all said, motioning for us to sit down.

"You talk about me alot?" I asked, with a tone of cockiness in my voice.

She eyed me from the side and said

"Shut up." her cheeks burned bright red, but her smile made it obvious she found it funny.

Lunch was great. All of us got on well with each other. I exchanged numbers with Ellie, Matthew and Calvin. They were all very funny and kind. We all had one thing in common. Each of us were the only friends that any of us had ever had. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad.
