The bell rang, and the students rushed out of the class. Me and Marina kind of hung around, and waited till everyone left. I didn't want her to leave me again.
"I'll see you tomorrow Marina." Mr.Daniels said chuckling.
She giggled and blushed.
"Bye Trevor." she said with a smile.
I eyed her as we left the classroom.
"What?" she said laughing.
"How do you know him..? I said cautiously. "Are you always that friendly with your teachers?" I asked her.
"What! No! He's my cousin! I swear!" she said defensively with a laugh.
"Right.." I said sarcastically.
"I swear! I swear! One day I'll have you over and you can meet him." she said smiling.
"That's so awkward!" I said laughing.
Okay so I didn't have to worry about him. He wasn't going to do anything to Marina.
"I'll see you in 7th Elizabeth." she said softly. She looked me in the eyes, and a small smile crossed her face.
This day was incredibly long, but it seemed like when I was with her time didn't exist.
She left me standing there, watching her walk to her class. I saw her slowly disappear into the sea of people. At least I would get to see her soon.
~
The day was slow. Like really really slow. I think the boring introductions that teachers always planned made it worse. All I could think about was Marina. I felt so attached to her. I'd never had a friend before, and it seemed like she didn't have any either. I still didn't understand why people looked at her with disgust. She was amazing in every way. I wanted to know everything about her. I have to admit I was quite glad that we partnered up for the assignment Mr.Daniels gave us. I have to admit that I was incredibly lucky that I had Marina in my classes and my teachers gave out partnered assignments.
7th period eventually came. I got to the class first and walked in the room.
"Hey! I'm Mrs.Miller!" my teacher exclaimed.
"Liz." I said plainly shaking her hand.
"Well, I hope you like to draw." she said with a smile.
"I'm not very good." I said awkwardly, while the class started to fill up.
"I doubt that." she said softly.
I took a seat in the back of the class.
I waited for Marina, and when she arrived she took the seat next to me in the back.
"Okay so hello I'm Mrs.Miller. I'm your art teacher this year." she said while passing out plain pieces of paper. "I just want to get to know you so this week I want you to fill this paper with anything you want. School appropriate of course. You have to draw it though, don't cut things out of a magazine alright?" she said chuckling and looking at me.
I mainly talked to Marina the whole class period. I didn't draw much, just little doodles.
When there was about 5 minutes left
I looked at what Marina was drawing.
A beautiful mermaid tail lay on a rugged rock. The scales were pink and red and purple. It was beautiful.
"Wow." I muttered.
She looked up and laughed.
"Your so silly." she said.
"Marina can I have your number." I said out of blue.
She laughed again and patted the table with her hand. I sat there awkwardly. I didn't say anything funny, so I didn't get why she was laughing. She stopped laughing after about a minute.
"Okay" she said, a giggle coming from her lips. I watched her continue to giggle, and found pleasure in it. Hearing her laugh made me happy.
She handed me a piece of paper with numbers on it, and the bell rang.
People rushed out, eager to get home.
I walked with Marina out of the door.
"Don't forget to text me!" she said laughing slightly.
"I won't Marina I promise." I said. What was with me? I was going to scare her away. I was too attached.
But I really liked being next to her. I've never had a friend before.
She walked away leaving me alone, as usual.
I sighed and walked the opposite direction towards my house.
