Chapter 7

7 Days Until Homecoming

It was exactly one week until Homecoming, and I still hadn't got a date. Today was just another normal day, another day where I still failed to find a date. Nothing really happened until 4th hour. On Tuesdays and Fridays, we have to go to a speech during 4th hour, which is where some kids go when some of their letters, like S and R and stuff like that sound slushy.  Me and Sam are the only ones in speech. So, once I got into the room, I sat down and let out a big sigh because by this point I was pretty depressed that I hadn't gotten a date yet. The teacher asked me what was wrong, so I told her and Sam. I told them everything. I know that kind of goes against the Cahill rules, but I didn't think about that until afterwards.

"I have to get a date to homecoming."

"Why? You don't really have to."

"Yes I do."

"What do you mean?"

So, back when the clue hunt was still going on and I thought the Madrigals where the bad guys. I decided to tell the same teacher that was talking to me right then about the clue hunt.

"So remember back about two or three years ago when I said that these bad guys called the Madrigals where trying to kill me. Well, turns out that they were really the good guys, and now I'm one of the good guys too. But now there's these new bad guys called the Vespers. So, I hadn't heard from them in a while. You see, back after I had that big treasure hunt for the serum that would make you the most powerful person in the world, and I found all the ingredients, but I decided to throw them away because nobody needs that power and that's when I became one of the good guys. Well, back after that, the good guys called me and told me that I needed to investigate these bad guys called the Vespers. Well, after I did that I found this book by the Vespers that said there was going to be an era of the Vespers. Well, I forgot about that but now these bad guys called the Vespers are back and they kidnapped members of that one powerful family that I belong to, and they're making the leaders of that family steal stuff for them. Well, I found out that there's a Vesper control 0 here trying to turn everybody into Vespers. Well that guy is going to the dance, and I have to get a date and go to the dance to find out who it is."

They all gave me blank stares.

"OK"

Sam turned to the teacher.

"I think he's going crazy."

Little did Sam know what I had just dragged him into.
