Chapter Three

I get shoved into the wall as the teens race past, eager to take their first steps on earth. As the majority of the people exit the drop ship, there are three people left, the blondie who i'm pretty sure is named Clarke (which in my opinion sounds like a guys name), Finn, the guy who took his belt off early resulting in two casualties, and myself. The girl Clarke pulls out a map from who knows where, opening it.

Finn walks up beside her looking out of the ship. "Why so serious, Princess? It's not like we died in a fiery explosion." He says jokingly. "Try telling that to the two guys that tried to follow you out of their seats." Finn looks towards her in mock hurt.

"You don't like being called Princess, do you, Princess?" He says smirking slightly.

I grab my wrist, the one with the metal cuff, as I feel a dull throb coming from it. I walk down the ramp and look up at the scenery and let out a breath, blowing out my cheeks. I stand a few meters behind Finn and Clarke as they talk to each other, listening in on their conversation.

"Do you see that peak over there?" Clarke says motioning with her head towards a mountain in the distance.

"Yeah." Finn replies, looking over towards the peak. "Mount Weather. There's a radiation-soaked forest between us and our next meal. They dropped us on the wrong damn mountain." She says rolling the map back up.

"Typical." I say, speaking up. Clarke and Finn turn their heads towards me, making both of them jump at my sudden voice directly behind them. "Why aren't you out there with the others." Clarke says questioningly.

"I could say the same thing to you." I say pausing. "I think there are more important things to do than prancing around in a potentially dangerous forest. For example, seeing how badly the ship was damaged." I say looking between the two.

"I like the way you think." Says Clarke. I nod my head in reply and walk back up the ramp of the drop ship, looking around for possible ship damage.

"We got problems." I say walking over to Clarke who is bend over her map on the drop ships ramp. She looks up at me expectingly. "Now I'm no mechanic, but I'm not stupid. The communication systems are down. The guy you sat next to on the way down here, Wells I think, went up on the roof and said some of the panels are missing, the heat fried the wires or something like that." I say as Wells exits the drop ship and stands next to me, catching the end of our conversation.

"You tell her?" He asks, turning his head towards me, I give him a nod in reply.

"Well, all that matters right now is getting to Mount Weather. See? Look, this is us." She says. She pulls out something long and she drags it across the map. "This is where we need to go in order to survive."

"Where'd you learn that? Your father?" Wells says, but before Clarke could say anything in reply the guy from the drop ship, the one with the goggles over his forehead, comes up behind Clarke and looks over her shoulder. "Ah, cool, a map." He says.

"They got a bar in this town? I'll buy you a beer." He says letting out a chuckle, thinking the joke was funny.

"You mind?" Wells says as he jumps off the side of the ramp, pushing the guy back with his hand on his shoulder. This guy seems to have a chip on his shoulder.

"Hey, hey, hey, hands off. He's with us." We all turn out heads to see a small group of guys walking towards us, one of them holding a large stick. The one at the front of the group was a guy who didn't look incredibly friendly, he had slicked back dark hair, and a not so nice edge about him.

I jump down from the side of the ramp landing next to Clarke.

"Relax, we are just trying to figure out where we are." I say, taking a step next to Wells, beside Goggles. That's what I decided to call him untill I knew his actual name.

"We're on the ground. That not good enough for you?" Replies a deeper voice across the clearing. It was the guy who opened the ship's door, with his sister standing right beside him.

"We have to find Mount Weather. You heard the Chancellor's message. That has to have first priority." I say taking a step towards him.

"Screw Wells' father." Octavia says in a threatening voice. "What, you think you're in charge here? You and your daddy's boy, and princess." She says, venom laced in her tone. I give her a dirty look in reply.

"Do you think we cared about who's in charge? We need to get to Mount Weather, not because the Chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we will be and the harder this'll get." She says pausing to take a breath. "How long do you think we will last without those supplies? We're looking at a twenty-mile trek okay? So if we want to get there before dark, we need to leave now." Clarke says, concluding her speech, waiting for someone to say something in reply.

Impressive. That girl knows how to deliver a speech.

That is, until we hear Bellamy's voice. "I got a better idea, you three go find it for us. Let the privileged do the work for a change." A large group of the teens had gathered around us, and we hear a few 'Yeah's' in agreement.

"Privilege? Yeah right." I say to myself. The guy with the slicked back hair gives me a strange look, obviously hearing my snark comment,

"You're not listening. We all need to go." Wells says desperately.

The guy with the pushed back hair pushes Wells forward, catching himself just before he falls.

"Look at this everybody, the Chancellor of earth." He say smirking.

"Hey!" I yell at him, shoving him backwards. The guy let's out a grunt of surprise. "You think that's funny?" Wells steps in front of me in protection, shoving the guy back slightly once more.

The guy gains back his composure and swiftly shoves Wells to the side, pushing him over, making him land on his ankle wrong and it twists into a strange position. He takes in a breath before standing back up, careful not to put weight on his sore foot.

"Back off." I say menacingly, stepping in front of Wells just as he did to me before.

I put my arms up in a fighting stance, and just as the idiot in front of me was going to throw the first punch, a figure jumps down directly between us. Finn.

"Kids got one leg." He says referring to Wells. "And you're not about to beat up a girl are you? How bout we wait till it's a fair fight." I bite back my nasty remark on how I can hold my own, before a feminine voice yells over the shouting of everyone, cutting me off.

"Hey Spacewalker, rescue me next." She says. Finn gives her something between a smirk and a genuine smile.

Bellamy gives his sister a look, as if to not go there, and walks over to her. Protective much.

"What? He's cute." She says in her defence. The crowd starts to disperse, realising there wasn't a fight about to break out.

"He's a criminal." He says simply, as if that was going to scare off the girl. Leaning her head closer towards her brother, lowering her voice an octave lower, she replies, "They're all criminals."

The brother drags Octavia away, wanting to talk more privately. I turn towards Wells. "You alright?" I say gesturing towards his leg. "Yeah, just a sprain. What's your name? I never got the chance to ask." He says curiously.

"You need to get that foot checked out." I say ignoring the question. "I wonder if anyone here has medical experience." I think aloud.

"I do." Says a familiar blonde.
