I was sitting in the library with Remus, and homework was taking me a lot longer than usual. Remus had finished a while ago, but decided to stay with me to keep me company. It was taking me forever because it wasn't my homework I was doing. It was Sirius'.
While Sirius was out doing whatever he wanted, I was stuck in the library to do his work for him. The more and more I did what he asked me to do, the more and more I was just thinking of letting him tell everybody. How long would it be before Severus told everybody anyway? How long has he known.
I let out a frustrated sigh and tried writing faster. Remus looked at me with concern and kept glancing between my work and my face.
"You okay? You can take a break, you know," he suggested. I shook my head, but gave him a smile.
"No, it's okay," I said while writing faster. My hand was starting to cramp. "I have to finish this, then we can do whatever. Okay?" Remus gave me a crooked smile and nodded. He rested his chin in his hand and leaned on the table.
The library was eerily quiet. I didn't think there was anybody else here except us at that point. It made me feel awkward, so I started humming tunes I remembered hearing on the muggle radio. I was getting close to finishing everything.
"Is that a muggle song?" Remus asked. I jerked my head up and looked at him. He was smiling and looking up at the ceiling like he was trying to remember something. "I feel like I've heard it before..."
"You listen to muggle music?" I said without thinking about it. He nodded slowly then brought his hazel eyes to look at me.
"Yeah, occasionally." He rubbed his chin and clenched his eyes shut like he was trying really hard to remember something. "Wait, don't tell me... Isn't it like, beetles or something?" I giggled a bit and nodded.
"The muggle band that plays it? Yes." He smiled brightly like he succeeded greatly at something. "The Beatles, to be precise." He rolled his eyes and waved me off.
"Close enough. It's a nice song. You have a nice voice." I snorted.
"Maybe when I'm humming. As soon as I open my mouth it sounds like somebody is killing a goose." Remus broke out laughing at my comment. I only giggled because his laugh was contagious. He grabbed his belly while curling over.
"Killing a goose? I've never heard that expression before." I laughed and realized I had probably adopted it from the muggle world. "You sure are something." I smiled and took it as a compliment.
"Why, thank you." I wrote one more sentence before dropping my quill on the table and leaning back. "Done!" He applauded in a mocking way. "Thanks for staying with me. You didn't have to do that."
"Nothing better to do. I like spending time with you." He smiled and looked down at the table. "So, what do you want to do now?" I shrugged and let out a yawn.
"I don't know. Maybe we should find the rest of the boys?" He made a face before making it straight again. "What?"
"Nothing. I just assumed their messing around or pranking like they usually do at this time of day." I frowned.
"That's true. Not really in the mood for that." He nodded and looked up thoughtfully.
"It's getting kind of late." I looked around for a clock and nodded when I noticed the late time.
"Yeah, but I'm not ready to turn in for the night. Are you?" He shook his head and smiled softly. He looked out the window, so I turned to look as well. The sky had fallen dark quickly. One of the side affects of it getting later in the year.
"I've got an idea," Remus said. He looked back at me. "A bit risky though." My jaw dropped in fake surprise.
"Wow, Remus Lupin doing something risky? Are we going to break the school rules? Thought I'd never see the day," I said over-dramatically. He smiled and shook his head.
