Chapter 10
I panted heavily as I ran through the diabolical forest. The possessed trees clawed at my flesh, tearing it into large pieces. Despite the terrible pain, I ran.
I heard screams all around me, from the broken souls which had an unfortunate fate. They screamed my name, begging me to run the opposite direction from where I was going.
They were begging me to run from my master.
As much as I wanted to obey those ear-piercing screams' commands, my legs were practically uncontrollable; the closer I got to the lake, the more uncontrollable my body had become.
I was like a puppet controlled by invisible strings.
The grass formed hands, which reached out to me with their bony fingers. The wind formed feet, kicking me, trying to knock me down.
Everything wanted me to run away from where I was heading.
But it was too late.
My body was now controlled by evil, invisible forces.
I kept effortlessly sprinting towards the lake, trying to get to my master as fast as I could.
Even when I closed my blood-shot eyes, I clearly knew my way.
It was as if I had dwelled in the forest for years.
The pain in my back surprisingly increased, and I could feel my muscles tearing and shifting behind my skin.
As more and more obstacles grazed at my skin, I was bleeding uncontrollably. I felt my body bathe in the fresh blood which oozed out of my many wounds. However, what surprised me most, was that my blood didn't clot.
Haemophilia.
I winched as my internal organs shifted inside my body, and almost screamed as I felt my heart move upwards, towards my head.
I could feel the veins and arteries which were connected to my heart separate and burst, making me roar in pain.
My vision went blurry, and I went completely blind.
However, my feet moved on.
I could sense obstacles around me, even though I didn't even touch them.
As I felt more of my blood vessels burst, I couldn't help but sry out from the unbearable pain.
Suddenly, after a few more steps, my vision came to normal. I took in my surroundings. and my jaw almost dropped in horror.
I have reached the lake.
However, it was not the lake that terrified me; it was what floated in the middle.
It was a tender figurine, who had a negative expression on her beautiful face. She had a delicate pink dress on her damaged, yet still perfect body.
It was not Lisa.
Elisabeth.
Her burnt, wounded corpse was still. A horrified expression was on her face, and her dull eyes were open, giving her no peace after her death.
I plunged into the lake, coughing at the blood which was in it. I had to reach her.
I swam as fast as I could, and almost drowned during the process.
I reached out and grabbed her shoulders. Pulling her closer to me.
As I did so, her face and body shattered and sunk to the depths of the lake.
I had disintegrated her.
Swimming back to the shore, I tried my hardest not to break down, not to lose myself.
Forget about everything, servant.
I looked up pitifully, and saw the dark shadow which stood powerfully above me.
I wanted to lunge at it, but my body had shut down. It had ruined my life, my sanity. It had made me a puppet, which had to act and behave only the way the owner wanted it to. Only the way the Devil wanted to.
Submit to me. The shadow commanded me.
"I will never submit to you as long as I live." I spat.
Whatever the Devil planned, I had to try to resist. After all that it had done to me, I was disgusted by even looking at it.
Submit. The Devil said louder.
My body was uncontrollably twisting, stretching and twitching now. I felt my muscles tear, which caused some of my flesh to drop onto the ground, along with the blood.
You shall submit! It roared.
I heard the voices again, which screamed at me to run away.
So I ran.
I ran wherever I could, and as fast as I could.
I had come to a dead end; I stood on the edge of a cliff, which was about 500 metres high.
My body started to convulse even more, as my feet uncontrollably dragged themselves to the edge of the steep cliff.
I slipped on my own blood, and almost fell down the cliff; thankfully, I reached out with my hand and grabbed the rock at the edge of the it.
The shadow floated towards me, and bent down to my level, a devilish smile forming on its face.
It's red, glowing eyes bore into mine, making me shiver.
I said, SUBMIT. It sneered.
No. I thought.
With ought another word, it stood up, and grabbed my hand. I gasped as it leant down, and grew longer, dagger-like teeth. It took one of my fingers, and devoured it in a second. It did the same with three more, savouring the taste if my blood, bones and flesh.
It left me hanging on with one finger.
I felt it slip on my blood.
I was falling.
Knowing that this was my end, I closed my eyelids, treasuring the last seconds of my existence.
And felt my body crash onto the rock.
