Chapter 20

"(Y/n)-nee-chan, is he your boyfriend?" Jiro asked you while he sat on his bed..

You stared at Genos still wearing a serious face even after your heartfelt reunion with your brother..

"Ah..no..he isn't"

"Then why are you holding his hand" Jiro said pointing at your hand..

You turned your attention at your hand still intertwined with Genos's hand. You took it away and your face turned beet red

"Ahh that...was nothing, Jiro..just eat the sweets that I gave you"

Jiro didn't protest and just stared at the cake you gave him. He looked so cute even if he's not trying

Then you suddenly had a thought...

'Why did the investigator said he's unstable?'

"(Y/n), if you need me I'll be right outside" Genos said as he went towards the door..

"Okay,...uhm thanks for the company"

He nodded in response and went out the room. You turned to Jiro who is still having a staring contest the straberry shortcake...

"Jiro, tell me what happened to you"

"Nee-chan.." He looked up to you and saw those once glittering blue eyes, now dull..

"It's okay..if it's too much for you, I won't push you to it" You said holding his hand..

"N-no it's not that, nee-chan. It's okay"

You gave him a reassuring smile, letting him know that he's safe now. His older sister ready to protect him no matter what..

"If it's okay with you.."

"Remember that day when I called you? I was crying for help over the phone...t-the m-monster..."

He paused his eyes turning dark together with his aura.

"Jiro? It's okay if you can't tell me now.."

You gave his hand a gentle squeeze making sure he's alright..

"Humans are an inferior race and they should all die!!"

Jiro looked up with a murderous stare.

"J-Jiro, that's not a funny joke cut that out"

"This is all your fault...if you haven't came at all, your stupid butler wouldn't have called the heroes..! THE SHAPESHIFTERS SHALL RISE!"

You're taken a back to what Jiro...no, this isn't Jiro anymore..

"What the hell are you doing with my brother?!"

"Oh hello there, little human. Did you miss me?..."

You gasped as you took a step backward, fearing for your life..

"...I've been borrowing your brother's body for a while, made his miserable life a living hell and I'm going to do the same thing to you as well"

The monster pounched at you and it was on top of you. Jiro or the monster grew back it's arm..or is it an arm? You weren't sure, it's vaguely human. It morphed into a sharp blade ready to slice you in half..

"Nigtey night, nee-chan!!"

You closed your eyes hoping this is just a horrible nightmare and you'll wake up very soon..

"Get away from her!!"

You heard a familiar voice coming from the door..

The creature looked up to the direction of the speaker..

"Oh hi there...nice to see you again, officer...oh a gun, super scary why don't you test it out on me, will you?"

The creature said wearing your brother's adorable expression..

"You knew very me well, demon. I can't do that"

"Is that s--"

The monster screamed and it was switched back to your brother's voice, then suddenly he fell unconscious into your arms. You turned to your saviour which turned out to be one of the investigators. You heard him sigh and helped you on your feet.

"This is why don't want you here yet, miss...your brother inflicted a parasite Shapeshifter when your town was attacked--he's still dangerous"

You stood up from your position and regain your composure as you gaze your brother's unconscious form. You held back a sob to what he has have to get through. First, the arm and now this.
You sighed and carried your brother to his bed. You turned to the investigator with a half-hearted smile. You laid Jiro down gently thinking he was a very fragile package that would collapse any minute.

"Miss (Y/n), I think you should leave...for your safety."

"I think I can handle my brother pretty well. You are free to go, Mr. Nakamura" Despite the fear inside you, you managed to have an air of authority. The investigator left without another word.

(Time skip)

Genos never left your side after knowing what happened earlier. He keeps your brother under surveillance every once in a while in case he'll wreck havoc again..

It's already 12am and you felt like your eyes aren't willing to stay open anymore. You yawned and rubbed your eyes, then looked back at your brother who is now asleep..

"You should go to sleep" Genos said

"Nah, I got it.." You tried to stifle another yawn..

"You're tired, you need to rest"

"W-what a-about my brother..?"

"I'll keep him in check"

You then leaned unto his shoulder, you're too tired to argue with him anyway..

But before you could completely fall asleep you could feel someone flicks your hair sideways and placd a soft kiss on your forehead.

Did Genos just?

Nah.

Thinking it was just a figment of your imagination since you're half awake, you simply shrugged it off and went unto dreamland.
