"You said you've never met her!"
"Do not change the subject here, you cheated on me." Cole slammed the tabloid down on the table, fuming in rage.
"You lied to me," I said softly, tears coming down faster than I could stop them. I heard Cole scoff at me, probably thinking I'm acting the pitiful wife to get out of his accusations.
I was right about that little bumping into Monty Salves as a setup. Kudos to my father-in-law. I don't know if I should be angry or thankful though since James did enlightened me about Cole's deception.
"I'm a liar? Pretty big allegation you are making without any evidence to prove it." He smirked at me and pointed towards the darn photographs painting a very intimate afternoon rendezvous. "You're not even trying to defend yourself, which proves everything this paper says is true."
"Even if I argue my case, you're mind is already set on believing what you read from that damned article." I said swallowing the big lump on my throat. If there is one thing I regret in this marriage, it's the fact that I've turned into one emotional woman opposed to what I was before. I guess if you do catch the feels it's too late.
"And even if I tell you the truth, which I have hundreds of times, you won't even listen to me."
Slowly, I presented a DNA test his father gave me with Sara when I met with them. Sara's child clearly matches with Cole's, now tell me I'm the liar and the cheat. He quickly picked up the papers and scanned it, his eyes widening in shock.
"Who gave this to you?" He asked, anger radiating out of him.
"Does that even matter?" I sighed and sank down the sofa, my legs unable to support my weight.
"Of course it matters, this is false! That child is not mine, I-"
"Let's end this," I firmly interjected, but he continued to finish his sentence.
"-did not lie about, what did you say?" he turned to glare at me.
"I'll initiate it, I forfeit everything I posses and about to posses to you, just please...let's end this."
He fell silent for a while, weighing my proposal. After a long pause, he scoffed again. "Fine, if that's what you want. Get the documents to me when they're ready, I'll sign it." He replied and walked out our house slamming the front door shut after him.
I was left alone to clean up the broken plates, vases, even picture frames we hurled at each other along with sharp words that cut deep and will never be taken back. Let him think I cheated on him, maybe he'll hurt as much as I'm hurting right now. I let myself cry for a good while, and told myself that this is the last time I'm going to cry for him, for anything. After this, I'm going to pick up and put my broken self back to its former glory.
For now, I cleared the house of shattered glass and trashed items. I'm going to cry myself to sleep, soak the pillows with my bleeding heart and when tomorrow comes, I'll be on my own. Stronger, smarter, sharper. Like a mantra repeating in my head, I fell asleep only to wake up two hours later.
I called to wake Harvey up, setting up a meeting early on. "If you could get every documents needed as soon as possible, I'll forever be in you debt."
"Marge, divorce process takes a while since every asset you have under your name that falls under inheritance will be scrutinize and assessed. Are you sure about this, you will end up with nothing you know?" He tried to discourage me, even told me that if Cole is to initiate the divorce he wouldn't lose every thing, unlike me.
"After signing the divorce papers, I don't have to be around for my marriage to be void so I don't see any problem."
"The problem is you will lose everything." He exclaimed and I'm glad I could careless. I do have money, tons of it that I don't have to work till I start getting my pension. And it's not inheritance, I earned it.
